So i've just by accident saw a thread (an old one) talking about Sky3ds and gateway users being banned from all 3ds online functions. No cia users have been banned but it seems that getting online with CIA's is dangerous too.
So is there any risk i get banned (i know this is silly but i'm a little scared gimme some of your time to answer plz

yes. .3DS files are quite risky, while CIA you can't get banned for playing online (Obviously if you use cheats, you will.)
Okay thanks for that quick answer ( i use cheats only on games that have no online play like yokai watch so no prob :) )

Are people with private headers getting banned?
The people getting banned are probably using public headers, or no headers.

Most of the time, bans are cartridge / ROM dump based.

Actually private headers are sure, public are not. Public headers are not always definite , it can be temporarily the first time but can get banned after...

If a private header is shared, then it can cause a ban.
So does the shared private header's original cartridge.

If a private header is shared, it is no longer private.
They shared them privately.
Such as a P2P file transfer on Whatsapp: "I'm giving it to you, don't send it to anybody else."
However this also causes a ban when two of the private header online simultaneously.

They shared them privately.
-Private: Only one user uses the header.
-Public: Two or more users use the header.

It's not about if it's privately shared or publicly known (although it's related to that), but if two users use it at the same time.

Noobs will not realize that privately sharing is also NG until we point it out.

BTW, if a person dump a private header to use them online on his/her two different 3DSes, it's also causing a ban.
There is no sharing in this case. The header is still private, but it can cause a ban.

Can someone explain to me what a "header" is? I am curious about the banning question as well.

Is it piracy if it was released for free? Not in my opinion, but I also think it's not piracy if buying it isn't owning it, and it's not piracy if you can't buy it from the original creators anymore.
