Yesterday I was trying to test out if 3hs DLC was compatible with my cartridges but unfortunately I didn't get that far because when I tried to load my Fire Emblem: Awakening save file onto my newly modded 3DS, the game hit me with the following error:

An error occured (ErrDisp)

Error type: generic
Process ID: 39
Process name: quartz
Process title ID: 0x00040000000a0500
Address: 0x00226d5c
Error code: 0xd900458b
After testing it out on consoles that don't have CFW, trying to install the cartridge onto my SD card only to get the same error before and after wiping my save file, and successfully being able to launch a digital version from 3hs, I've come to the conclusion that the game cartridge got busted some time in the last 4 years. Checkpoint also didn't let me restore the save file backup from the cartridge onto the digital version I downloaded.

I wound up buying another cartridge that's on its way but I wanted to ask will I be able to restore the save file onto the new cartridge?

Edit 8/17: Good news! The backup worked with my new cartridge!

I'm extremely unclear on what you're doing. How did you install FE:A , and what did you do with your save?

DLC is not installed to the cartridge. Were previously playing this cartridge a 3DS with the DLC, or what?

Please try to be as detailed as possible.

Does it matter at this point? I already identified the cartridge is busted. I tested it on 3 different consoles. One with CFW that I also used GM9 to install the game only get the same error and two without CFW including the one that I purchased the DLC through the eShop only to once again get the same error.

I'm just wondering if I can use the backup save in Checkpoint that I saved from the cartridge on a new FE:A cartridge since the backup was incompatible with the separate FE:A CIA I downloaded from 3hs after realizing the cartridge was busted.

The error you posted is from the Luma error handler, so how would you get the same error on a console without CFW? This is confusing.

If you are unsure about the condition of any particular save data, you can try opening it with a save data editor and see if it contains the data you expect.

The ones without CFW didn't display the Luma error codes but they still displayed the vanilla error message that says the 3DS needs to be rebooted when I tried to load my save file.

I also meant to ask:

Does this mean you got an error message in Checkpoint? What was the error?

ETA: If you think your cartridge is going bad, there are ways to verify that, as in https://gbatemp.net/threads/kirby-planet-robobot-crashes-only-on-3dses-with-cfw.603819/post-9681133 . But this would be the first I've heard of an FE:A cartridge going bad.

There was no error message in Checkpoint. The version from 3hs simply doesn't pop up for me to be able to restore anything. I don't think the cartridge is going bad. I know it's going bad. Why else would it stop working on every system I put it in while other games don't have any issues?

Does this include SpotPass DLC? If so how do I get my hands on it since it's downloaded within the game.

Not sure where you can get the spotpass dlc if spotpass no longer work, Not sure if that apply to spotpass content, in other fire emblem games if you are missing some content the save data should still load. In awakening case it would says something like outrealm content that you have to regain access to dlc to show the dlc content.

Did you refresh the list of installed titles in Checkpoint by holding B? People often don't realize they need to do that. You will also probably have to start a new game first before you can restore anything.

It's entirely possible there's some kind of mismatch with the program version and/or DLC. Maybe the .cia from "3hs" isn't good to begin with.

Like I said before, opening the save data with a save editor might be instructive. I'm not sure which ones people are using these days, but https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-fire-editor-fire-emblem-awakenings-save-editor.397493/ comes up in a quick Google.

Since you've backed up the save data on the cartridge, have you tried wiping the data and starting a new game? I think you can do that with FBI or JKSM.

There are tales told of cartridges failing, but wouldn't you expect a lot more people to have failing FE:A cartridges and not just yours if that was a thing that was happening?

Turns out I forgot to redownload the DLC after I finished testing to see what was wrong with the cartridge. After downloading it again I was able to restore the backup onto the CIA with no issues so I should be good to go when the new cartridge arrives.

@Xdqwerty yes, when you are installing Windows on the first steps you are asked for your current location, you MUST to select «international» so no bloatware is installed, because the bloatware is location based. if this night I have some time I will setup a VM and take screenshots.

the legal drinking age here in the US is 21, as some of you may know, but i think either it should be 18 or the age you're an adult should be 21.

and i know what you may be thinking, "why become an adult at 21? doesn't that mean that banging an 18 year old would be illegal?"
first of all, being in a relationship with someone who's 18 is technically ok, as long as it started when they were 18, but the age gap is still weird depending on how old you are. besides, the age of consent differs between different states
