d2x-v10-b52-Stealth-RC24 Released!
View attachment 313534

source: https://github.com/davebaol/d2x-cios/releases/tag/d2x-v10-b52-Stealth-RC24

Install it like usual using ModMii or the wii d2x cIOS installer as per the directions from here

Unofficial release notes:
This has not been heavily tested, but the changes are extremely minimal and I am very confident there is no downside to using this compared to v10 beta 52. That being said there is no need to update from v10 beta52 (or v8-final for that matter) unless you want to:

1) hide your drive using uStealth AND want to restore emunand functionality (i.e. like storing gamesaves on emunand)
2) use RC24 AND have the Priiloader hack enabled to use cios249 for the Systemmenu/disc channel (otherwise it breaks some RiiConnect24 features)
3) STILL NEED TO CONFIRM: use RC24 AND launch RC24 channels via usb-loaders instead of the main system menu (usb-loader updates may also be required in order for RC24 patched channels to connect when launched via a usb-loader)

After people test this, and assuming no-one reports any problems relative to v10 beta 52, I think I will release this as v10-final and we can finally stop referring to v10 beta52 all the time. So in essence this is really a v10 final release candidate.

I wish davebaol were still around, but it seems I'm the last OG standing able to push updates to davebaol's official d2x github so I guess ultimately it's up to me whether or not to brand this as v10-final (I need to be careful not to get drunk with power, lol). If anyone thinks this should not become v10-final (or v11?) please share your rationale and your voice will be heard and considered.

Thanks everyone!

P.S. Keep your eyes peeled for a big ModMii update! Probably sometime before the end of summer, but no promises!

Edit: DO NOT USE ON WII MINI!!!!

I have a WD easystore which only works with beta53-alt. Any version of b52 creates a freeze while loading the cios.

Is there any chance to merge the fixes into beta53-alt as an option for those of us who who may want to stay on that version?

Beta53 removed the fat module, so a simple swap for the stealth version wouldn't be doable. And beta53 seems to work with rc24 even without the rc24 key, so no need. That being said I have already constructed a version of beta53 with the rc24 key added and shared it with blackb0x to do some testing.

All in all, I'd suggest that if beta53 works for u just keep using it, the recent changes aren't super impactful unless you're specifically trying to run a ustealth hidden drive

Hey there, a Wii U/vWii/WiiVC user here. So I am wondering what the benefits are with this unofficial firmware and vWii and WiiVC. A problem that WiiVC has is that it losses access to all USB devices, even those that are using UStealth. Does this custom firmware solve that issue? If not, then what does it do for vWii/WiiVC

Normal WiiVC for the Wii U. Forwarders from the main Wii U menu open Wii homebrew in WiiVC. Since it's a Wii Homebrew I'm wondering if this could fix that issue.

Well I'm referring to more of emulators than I am actual games. Heres an example. I can create a forwarder that finds my Wiiflow on my sdcard. It opens it through WiiVC, and has no access to games on a UStealth Fat32 hard drive. That's because WiiVC looses access to the USB ports. I'm wondering if this firmware can help the WiiVC see that drive. Or else, what does this do for a WiiU/vWii user.

Hello.:)

@XFlak

Strange things are going on.
Today, after 2 Weeks I attached my Wii with that cIOS installed and
Priiloader Setting "IOS to use for SM" is set to 249.

The Wii is no longer booting into the System Menu, instead directly into Priiloader with this Error Message:
"Error autobooting systemmenu !
Ticket not found !"

The WiiMotion Controller is no longer responding and also not the Wii Power / Reset Buttons for Navigation !!
Only the GameCube Controller works !

And when I go into the Setting "IOS to use for SM" it is set to 21.When I navigate (only with the GameCube Controller possible) to it,then the Wii freezes.😢

That's very strange, but because the changes are so minimal I wonder if there isn't another cause and it's just coincidence. Anyway, r u able to boot into the hbc or bootmii to resolve it? If u install the currently recommended 249 and change nothing else and it works then that could tell us something.

With IOS 249 enabled - no boot into anything is possible.
De-Activating that Option in Priiloader makes a normal boot into Homebrew Channel / Wii System Menu....😉

I thought u said the wii freezes when navigate to that option?

Can u check whether the same happens with d2x v10 beta52 all else being equal?
When I exactly MARK the Option. When I avoid that Option and de-activate it one Line above,I can navigate freely.
(Sorry for can not making / posting Proof Videos actual...)

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
