Isn't the point of "archiving" to preserve stuff in it's original form? Can't speak for anyone else but archival purposes for me.

Yes, why else would it be worth dumping the rom of star fox 2 and now trials of mana since in the end it's a snes/sfc game that is just being run through a custom emulator.Isn't the point of "archiving" to preserve stuff in it's original form?
Because this is the first time this ROM has ever been released. You can't go pirate it somewhere else. It only exists inside this game. Not to be rude, but extracting the rom to pirate it sounds like a lot more work than just pirating it, so why not just do the second?
Dude, you're on a forum dedicated to Switch hacking where a vast majority of it's users pirate games. "Why else would I want to archive it?" you ask? I think the answer is simple, there's nothing wrong with admitting to be a pirate. "Archiving" is such a lame excuse.Yes, why else would it be worth dumping the rom of star fox 2 and now trials of mana since in the end it's a snes/sfc game that is just being run through a custom emulator.
I quite agree, so why not pirate it on the Switch? I mean, you have to pirate it anyway to get the nsp to extract the rom out of it anyway, so why not just install the file and enjoy your game?Because this is the first time this ROM has ever been released. How is it an excuse? I archive undubs, fan translations and uncensored modded version of games released on many platforms since it's the only way for me to play them in the future.Dude, you're on a forum dedicated to Switch hacking where a vast majority of it's users pirate games. You don’t need to pirate the game to dump its contents. You can extract NSPs from legitimately installed games or use a RomFS browser to extract just the needed file. Anyway, as to why, it’s an SNES game and some people may want to play it using the original controllers or on their SNES mini or through a better emulator than the one built into the Switch game. Or some people may not even have a Switch and would like to play it. There’s lots of reasons to extract it.Dude, you're on a forum dedicated to Switch hacking where a vast majority of it's users pirate games. "Why else would I want to archive it?" you ask? Some people will argue about anything... I'm not sure what is so offensive about wanting to extract a new/updated/previously-unreleased rom from a Switch title... nor why it is so inconceivable that someone might want to play it an another platform other than their Switch...How is it an excuse? I archive undubs, fan translations and uncensored modded version of games released on many platforms since it's the only way for me to play them in the future.
Not sure why you're insinuating in a thread about dumping a snes/sfc rom that I said it's bad, wrong, immoral etc to pirate games, I want a proper dump of tom as much as everyone here.
Software piracy is defined as "the unauthorized use or reproduction of another's work." Perhaps you are right and that the file was legitimately purchased and dumped, but the examples of uses you provided all fall under that definition of piracy.Anyway, as to why, it’s an SNES game and some people may want to play it using the original controllers or on their SNES mini or through a better emulator than the one built into the Switch game. Edit: Obviously, this wasn't directed at you 'AnotherAlternative' but rather the previous poster who appears to be perplexed as to why someone would want to extract this rom.
I checked the thread and this dump has debug messages appearing in them, it's playable but I think it's best to make a dump without them.

Pirating? When User want to play it on the original Hardware or the Mini snes System?Software piracy is defined as "the unauthorized use or reproduction of another's work." what debug messages? played a tiny but but didn't see any yet, im using sk3_a
If you play through the switch game then it runs normally but the 4chan dump contains debug messages that the dumper didn't remove, haven't run into one yet but they stated it is there.Mmh i dont see nothing too.

Yeah, there isn't really a lot of wiggle room in that definition, and the whole "It's fine to pirate games from old consoles because Ninty isn't making money from it" doesn't apply when Ninty literally JUST released a never-before-released game in the west. So, yeah. If you're gonna pirate, just say it. Pirates with "morals" are the worst kind.Pirating? When User want to play it on the original Hardware or the Mini snes System?
I will Have it on the retro console that i Use and on the switch too
