You guys still play this game?
Yup. Slowed it down a bit, mostly doing one or two smaller side missions a day, partly because maybe I can get another patch release in - while not doing main quest stuff, partly because I savor my time with the game.
I've already played 100 hours tracked (80 on my save so 'official' the rest just strolling around) and I like the atmosphere very much.
Bugs werent a large issue in my case (most annoying ones are footsteps sounds going missing from time to time (have perks to increase run speed) and some item pickups clipping into the floor so you cant get them - not a huge issue, as the game spams you with items, and the 'best ones' are in locations where that doesnt happen.) so far.
Motivation still is there - and I just plain - like the worldbuilding.
To sum up on a GTX 1660Ti PC slightly below 30fps (which is lower than next gen console performance) the city is still the main thing that pulls me back in. So is Vs apartment, and the apartment complex - I'm just a sucker for the worldbuilding at this stage (also I grew up reading Cyberpunk Pulp, so I have a fondness.).
On pacing and tone - I made the character above (two items from the 'corpo' legendary set (h**ps://
www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgoVQ6mWgKM) are enough (enough slots) to make you 'invincible' with certain other attribute tree perks in most encounters), early game I liked the Orange Quadra very much (just blends in well with the light/mood design in the game), then I switched to the Herrara Outlaw GTS (silver, and sleek - but not too outrageously futuristic), and now I'm basically into the atmosphere of me roleplaying a film noir detective, with a straw hat, and a silver car, in a dystopian future with filmgrain, and fog effects that look good, over an entire city.
Whats there not to like.
(Guns are pistols Genjiroh (Smart pistol) and Lizzie Pistol (Tech pistol - picked up at level 50, not sure if it had one higher tier upgrade option), and any decent Katana you like (my choice at this point is based on color scheme, because damage output is more than enough, once specked into the tree) - so I'm not into the fast gunplay and playing it like a shooter (not at those framerates..
). I also very much enjoy my top tier quickhacks at 4 intelligence (of 20).
(Cant use them as often, as a character specked into this, but strategically, which is fun - and has me pulled more into the stealth gameplay - but just when it feels like a mission narratively calls for it (my choice - sometimes ending in firefights..
).)
One more tip for atmosphere. As soon as you've met Takamura in the Diner (pretty early on in the game), you have the option to get a cat for Vs apartment. Having the cat, stops loud 'my dads choice of rock' (wouldnt call it punk..
) music from randomly playing in your apartment (you cant turn it off otherwise), which helps with enjoying its atmosphere..
A lot. Id rather listen to ambient noises all day - and it provides a much more low key experience. So get the cat early. Imho.
(Also you dont have to use the apartment as a hub at all, because you have access to your stored inventory from your cars booth, yet for me its still an essential part of the experience.
(I like the atmosphere. As in - "I like the atmosphere - the game."))
edit: If you are wondering, why I'm focusing on those aspects - watch this video, which gets its description of the game right - imho:
(I'm, circumventing some of the games flaws, by playing this way. (Getting to level 50 early, choosing my gear, then ignoring most of the lootspam, or the need to change gear for the highest armor rating.) video also gets 'quality and significance' of the games storytelling right.) Combat is fun, but you might have to play under speed a little (if one of the most effective ways of ending it is oneshot meleeing your opponents, with close to no risk, positioning yourself faster than the AI ever could).)
