FIXED! Deleted thread?

Years ago, I found a thread presenting Super Sonico as something easy to translate. I remembered that I saw a certain model from the game in it. I also remember that there was a screenshot where the GBATemp logo was hacked onto the title screen just to show how easy modding the game was.

I was cluelessly playing through the game recently and decided that if it was so easy that I would want to do it (with Google translate, of course: something poorly written I can read is better than what I can't read at all).

After much hopeless searching with what I thought I knew, I've decided the thread I want is here: https://gbatemp.net/threads/poc-super-sonico.394496/ .
I probably had so much trouble finding it because it's been deleted. I only found it mentioned in another thread (https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-every-file-explorer.373615/page-25) by a user who seems gone: someone I can't really contact to find out what was on it.

I couldn't find an archive either.

So, I'm asking if I can know why it was deleted, if I can see its contents (if they're just hidden due to disinterest or whatever) and if GBA Temp has some special thread archive that I can have a link to.

After some search around the forums, I stumbled on this:

I think you can only contact the user in question for this. Though I'm not sure it would be allowed here for the reason mentioned in the screenshot.

The issue at hand seems to stem from one screenshot containing nudity that was posted in that topic, otherwise the rest of the topic appears to be clean from what I can tell.

@Costello Would it be ok to un-delete the topic if the post containing the nudity is removed?

could be OK after a careful review yes
but ideally the thread should be renamed, so that the URL changes.
in case Google decides that it's still bad - at least it wont get reflagged as the same page (which could cause us to get banned again)

Thanks for the quick response. Though after a second more thorough look it would appear about a third or a fourth of the topic responses were focused on making a nude mod for the game, which is unfortunate since the other parts of the hacking process seemed more focused on translating the game in question. Maybe some sort of compromise where the topic is locked from new posts, but still visible could be acceptable? (Obviously without the nudity)

That would still allow for the topic to be used as a reference after all

Can you explain this please? Does Google flag websites containing nudity and remove them from it's search results?

No, it's about Adsense (which I don't think gbatemp is using? last time I was using noscript and tried to whitelist ads here, I saw references to Casalemedia and Amazon's ad platforms?) - most advertising franchisers like the cited brands have arbitrary standards for the websites they're to be used on

There are less prudish alternatives, from the honest like Project Wonderful, to the questionable (what's on most porn/warez sites), but they are typically less profitable (since they're smaller) and/or less wary of pushing malicious content (not like the mainstream players are safe)


TVTropes is one of the websites most known for being "bullied" this way by Adsense, twice - many of their sex-related pages were removed and the surviving ones toned down

The topic has been restored. Some responses relating to making a nude mod has been removed, but most of the posts relating to the hacking of the game should be intact.
