I haven't felt any, and I've been playing a lot... Though Pilotwings has very extreme effects, so I turn it down a little bit. (the built in software is great in that aspect)

I have played Street Fighter IV for 3 hours straight with full 3D on and didn't experience any problems with my eyes. It all depends how your eyes will respond to the 3D so not everyone will no eye strain.

Short Answer yes, long answer no. Go use one yourself for a couple of minutes, everybody has a different experience because you arent used to the way the 3ds sends images to your eyes. I wouldn't say strain much rather a wierd tingling feeling in your eyes the first few times, I only experienced this like the first 3 days I think, now i can play my 3DS and look away at something else and then look back at the 3ds and my eyes will refocus quickly to find the 3D factor.

It varies from Person to person. However, it is advised not too use the 3D for too long.

Also, I have been reading it depends on the distance you hold the 3DS and the environment around you.

It varies from person to person. Most people won't feel any strain, but others may. If you can look at a computer screen for an hour with no strain, you can probably handle 30 minutes of full 3D.

Why is it advised not to use 3D for long? Anyways moving on to answering OP.

Well it doesn't, gaming in general causes eye strain (well everyone knew that lol), anyways 3D specifically doesn't cause eye strain to everyone, it depends from person to person like the other posts above me mentioned. 3D may cause headaches, though I've never experienced one. Again it all depends varily.

It's adviced to not use 3D for too long just to be on the safe side.
Can handle 3D, turns it off after a short time -> he's okay.
Can't handle 3D, turns it off after a short time -> he's okay.

Can handle 3D and don't turn off -> he's okay.
Can't handle 3D and don't turn off -> ouchies..

So it's just to be on the safe side... if you can handle it, just play with it!

Will cause headache, nausea, eye straining etc etc.
Like I have said a thousand times before, I dont use my 3DS anymore.
but the first few days, I got tired pretty easily, eyes were wet etc etc.

Another problem I have is dominant eye. My left eye is slightly weaker than the right. Funny that a few years back it used to be the other way around lol.

i always have my 3D on, but on the lowest. i experience eye strain, but not so much, more like a slight tightening of the eye muscles (the ones around the eyeball) as they try to position better to cope with the images that they're trying to get (the angle, and the apparent depth). my eyes aren't used to seeing so much depth as i have very weak eyes, and a dominant right eye (i call it being "right hand drive"). i experience this a lot when i adjust 3D pictures by sliding depth to the right.

i'm thinking of gradually building up dosage by getting used to depths, but for the most part i always keep it on a comfortable distance. not too deep, but no popups either.

As mentioned above it depends on the person, I have used my 3DS full 3D for hours without a single issue, the same goes for 3D movies that need glasses, and most recently I tried the glasses free LG phone without a single issue.

Most people I know that have a 3DS don't have any issues, but some are sensitive to it, including my wife who gets some eye strain after a few minutes, although she is -1.5 in both eyes. You need to demo it for yourself to see how you react, but I would says there is a small adjustment period, so I would see how long you can tolerate it for before giving up.

I didn't have eye strain but it depends on the individual. Have you every used one of those viewmaster picture viewers that loook like red plastic binoculars? Those worked the exact same way. That company was never sued. If it would really cause damage they would have been sued years ago. They have been around for more than 30+ years now. Google Viewmaster and you'll see what I'm talking about. They had discs with pictures n them (2 identical images per photo to be viewed and it made the image in the same way without electronics, it merged two seperate images into one, well actually your eyes do it.

The thing with the 3ds is, when viewing in normal view, your eyes [vidion] meet to see the same image, at the level of the paper, or screen or whatever you are looking at. In 3d mode with the 3ds, your eyes focus at a [virtual] point a little behind the screen, and puts together the two images so the eye sees it as though it were at the level of the screen instead of behind it. Most peoples eyes adjust very quickly to it with normal use.

Hope this helps some.

Haven't read all the comments, but no it doesn't. I'm 44 years old and spend a couple hours a day (playing OOT right now) with 3d on full and no problems. But I remember the first time I tried a demo 3DS at a retailer, I thought my eyes would pop out of my head. I think people who are trying it for the first time feel they have to 'make' the 3D happen with a strained focusing of the eyes. Don't go by your first couple hours because it takes a while to get used to the fact you don't have to 'do' anything to enjoy the 3D effect.
