Complementing our posts (mine and krisztian1997), this USB port only uses 4 wires, which is exactly the amount of wires the Raspberry uses. To use the Arduino method you'll need a 5th one (DAT3).

Cheers!

the port uses 5 pins but you need a cable that has 5 wires which is pretty rare.

Someone tried using that but it didnt worked for him

Do you know what did the guy use the twisted cable for?

If guess that since the cable is thicker than the other and don't have "insulation" (nothing covering it, if you use the cable for data related signals, it will suffer alterations or something. isn't it?
What if you try to use it for GND?

He used it for the GND, using it for data would be retarded because the 3DS eMMC chips are super sensible, from what I read new eMMC chips hate if the clocks rising and falling edge are not squareish

Right! Then we're doomed and this 4 wires micro USB won't work with Arduino natively :)

Cheers!

okay, I've sent my 3DS XL off to aliak11. I really hope this works...

Could you please post screenshots of aliak11's work when he sends it back and if there was any cost, etc? I was considering getting this mod and it would be nice to have feedback... call it a costumer review I suppose. :P I mean with the permission of aliak11 of course.

Is it piracy if it was released for free? Not in my opinion, but I also think it's not piracy if buying it isn't owning it, and it's not piracy if you can't buy it from the original creators anymore.
