Looking into it, I notice that it's to keep the stock PSU from overheating. If I'm getting a replacement, does it matter at all?

Does the new psu get rid of the 12v rail?

If that's what this is, then I guess not.

Lol didn't know about the 12v line. I have it used with a potmeter to give a 9v line to the modem, so I guess I'm save. I have one of the first clones, but still working like a charm.
