E3 2022 has been cancelled; ESA says event will return in 2023

One of the gaming industry's highly anticipated yearly events, E3, has once again been cancelled. Following some early rumours, the ESA has confirmed that this year's E3, which was scheduled to be an online showcase, has indeed been cancelled.

An exact reason has not been shared but is likely due to issues related to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. And it appears that the ESA is focusing its efforts to come back for a (likely) physical event in 2023. In a statement to IGN, the ESA confirmed that E3 will return in 2023 with "a reinvigorated showcase".

"We will devote all our energy and resources to delivering a revitalized physical and digital E3 experience next summer. Whether enjoyed from the show floor or your favorite devices, the 2023 showcase will bring the community, media, and industry back together in an all-new format and interactive experience," the ESA told IGN. "We look forward to presenting E3 to fans around the world live from Los Angeles in 2023."

Probably because there's not much to announce after MS have bought out studios to add to its anti consumer digital only (aka prevent pre owned games plan B).

Sony pretty much the same apart from they scraped the bottom of the barrel, but to be fair, neither Sony or MS are much different, just now MS have thrown money to get exclusive because they cant make shit themselves.

Nintendo well whats to say worth talking about, look back at last gen consoles and the games we failed to get.......

Well here you are, we are improving better support I mean wow just look at all these old games you can no pay and play again.

Nothing has interested me in even pre owning any next gen consoles, no urge to pay stupid prices for one either.

But will know I won't be buying a shitbox or another nintendo paperweight.

first nintendo ditched e3 then sony so yeah e3 has been loosing a lot, and like many people say now devs can simply advertise their game on YouTube or twitter and get a higher reach than e3 even, so its not like its anything important right now.
YouTubers do a better job announcing/reviewing games than E3 does. E3 is pretty much done unless they change.

IIRC events such as E3 have been said to still be useful, particularly for smaller devs/publishers. Not just because of the media but also because they can interact with other companies which may otherwise not happen.

Although this was stated for IRL events, not digital ones.

Early april fool joke or legit?
At this time of year i'm skeptical of everything online lol
exactly what I was gonna post
there's always the ambiguity of time zones... it says April 1st here but technically that was said on March 31st over there in the USA... so yeah
I'll just go to sleep and wake up 2 days from now and ignore what happened in these 2 days
