Emulation Station not registering pressing buttons on Wii U games

When I go to the main menu on New Super Mario Bros U and I press a button to boot it up, it doesn’t register any button I press, but when I open it directly through Cemu it works until I go to the level selecting section, where it doesn't register me moving my character.

Open Cemu in desktop mode to confirm bindings. Beyond that, might just be a bad ROM.
