This is primarily a gaming site filled with gaming discussion. While there is a politics-specific forum, I don't believe it should be included in the "All" category of the "Recent Content" feed.

Many users wish to keep their political ideas separate from their hobbies, and others wish to ignore politics altogether. Also, gaming provides a means of escapism for many from the stressors of real life and politics, and I'm sure they wouldn't want to be reminded of current affairs.

Lastly, there are often explicit or troubling topics that may offend or cause discomfort to users, and their inclusion in the front-page "All" tab is in display to all users (many of whom are children).

I like Chary's suggestion as well. I'm glad we found an acceptable solution to this problem.

Seeing those politics news wasn't the end of the world for me, but it was a bit of an annoyance at times. If the tempbot informs you about the option to hide them future users will be able to avoid that. That sounds good to me.:)

I no longer saw my original post after refreshing, so I thought all three were gone and posted it again.
To any mod who sees this. I'm really sorry for causing this mess. I panicked and only made it worse.

I'm done for. I guess I should go to sleep now...

I personally just skip over the threads, occasionally reading, even replying if I feel like doing so.
It's not that hard, really.

I'll be honest and say that I quite dislike that section, but there's always something worth reading, either to my amusement or to make me learn new things.

What do you mean by that?

Going by what you quoted in bold (from my response to clyde)--in general, I've seen some s h i t t y decisions made. Mostly, it's "mods" being assholes and abusing "power".

There won't be any "reasonable moderation", it'll be assholes who have a grudge, set view, or hungry for authority on issues and they'll act like a baby with a hissy fit.

Don't get me wrong, there are decent "new" mods and they do a good job, but I can think of one who is complete ass....it's not you. Also glad that some mods know when they made a mistake, disclose necessary information, rectify the action, and learn for the future.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

    but that's a long shot

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
