Gaming Fake Pokemon Heartgold Soulsilver

Hello! Me and my sister bought a copy of Heartgold Soulsilver as a bundle a couple months back, and I've only just now realized they were fake. They look completely real, but they're gray instead of black. And I'm cool with that! (I have to be since the alternative would be spending around 120 dollars for actual copies and that just isn't happening.)

My question is- can you encounter shines on fake cartridges? I've spent hours soft resetting for a shiny starter, and either it's impossible or I just have really bad luck. I'm hoping it's the latter. I just want to know before I spend hours more trying for something that might not be possible.

I'm also playing it on my 3ds, but since the game is a ds game I'm posting it here. And the game is a pretty good fake, in my opinion. The only problem besides the (very) occasional freeze, the game center doesn't work at all. Other than that, it's totally fine.

Yup, you can get a shiny on a fake cart. The odds are just as against you as a normal cart lol. I'd be more worried about the game's save failing or something like that.

Thank you so much!! I've played about half way through before deciding it would be great to have a shiny following me, and thankfully there's been absolutely no file problems. Only problem is my forgetfulness to save </3

Honestly if you want a shiny behind you, RNG manipulation would be my recommendation. Soft resetting is just so horrible lol, take it from somebody who spent 30 hours before starting their Omega Ruby save ;O;

RNG is random number generation, and is used to determine basically everything about the Pokemon you're encountering. You can manipulate it to get exactly what you want.

Damn thats realistic! Swap the sticker with a UK one and it would look bang on perfect for a UK copy as they are gray over here

That JPN cart looks pretty cool. Looks kinda like a Switch cartridge

That isnt a UK cartridge, UK cartridges are marked "UKV" not "EUR"

That isn't quite right. The only DS game I've ever seen with UKV was Pokemon Typing Adventure. UK games should normally be EUR, Pokemon HeartGold included in that. I'm even more dubious about yours being legit now lol

Oh my bad im thinking of the back of the box, the carts themselves are in fact "EUR"

Hey how are you? I know this is an old post, but I was told today that you cant rng manipulate a non authentic copy of HGSS. Is this true?

Hey I was told today that you can't rng manipulate on a non authentic opy of the game. Is this true? If it is do you have a discord that we can chat on to further explain this
