SHOULD I UPDATE?

CONS:
Can't use online play.
wont be able to play newly released games, because they require an update.
Won't be able to access the E-shop
possibly wont be able to do local play with other people.
The exploit might be on another firmware.

Pros:
Exploit might be released on your Firmware.
You might be able to get free games,
possibly home brew apps.

So now it's up to you to decide.

If you decide to stay where you are

HOW TO BLOCK UPDATES

So the Update DNS is supposedly
Code:
205.166.76.187
Thank you @fokouethan for it
Blocking this with your Switch should stop Automatic Updates

Also here is a post by @Mr.Wizard that has several Dns's for other stuff

thank you for the DNS buddy, will it completely block updates , or will it just simply block the auto updates ?
like i mean if someone was to manually try to update the system, would it still block that too ?

I was sad that I had updated to 3.0.1 when it was found out that 3.0.0 had a vulnerability, but then I thought to myself, "how long would it take before regular users could take advantage of it with things like homebrew?" That's when I didn't really care. I'd rather play newer games and play online instead of waiting however long it will take for anything constructive to appear for anyone other than hackers. Then there's always the possibility that a vulnerability will be found in newer versions, so no sense in depriving myself.

I think it will still try to update,
So either it will try to update and won't be able to,
or it will update.

best thing is to have it in airplane mode then.

but i am thinking like, what if the exploit will actually need wifi access to trigger the exploit.
hm, guess then just gotta be extra careful.

Feel like I've been screwed over but... yours is "neater"
Thanks,

well, even having multiple FAQs are still good,
to show visibility and possibly lead to other FAQs
if that makes sense.

The hate when people say to keep it in airplane mode. You do realize airplane mode also disables Bluetooth, which means no wireless controllers. So airplane mode will only work if you intend on only using handheld mode or plan on always using a wire. Best method is to just turn off wifi, or set up a fiddler proxy if you still want to use web browser

that's nice to get credited, but I didn't do anything.
you probably mistaken me with someone else. unless you speak about tagaya servers, but I didn't do a lot by mentioning that, I don't even know if it's part of the filtering in the DNS IP you provided.

Thanks to Thirty3Three and DeoNaught, not getting mad at each other for writing a similar FAQ.
You could even work together if needed ;)
