Yes it should be fine. (Remove the eshop logo in the app just in case anyways)
Even so there's still the matter of
Nintendo said:
The freeShop application provided at https://github.com/Cruel/freeShop/releases infringes Nintendo's copyrights, because the application circumvents Nintendo's technological protection measures in violation of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. Nintendo encrypts the game files available from its eShop servers to prevent users from accessing those files without paying for them. Nintendo believes the freeShop application circumvents Nintendo's protection measures by decrypting the game files accessible from its eShop servers, allowing freeShop users to access and play Nintendo's eShop games for free.
Even if they may have originally used the logo as an excuse when taking it down, if you try to just change the logo, they'll press this^ further.

It's only a matter of time before they take down the website with the qr code.Nintendo must be doing poorly in sales right now,I wouldn't be surprised if they paywall the switch from doing online multiplayer because of this.
Unlikely they will be able to take down the titlekey website, first off it's not hosted in the US, and second if the current host pulls it the developer of it will probably just find a new host.

well if freeshop retrieves the cache from the repo even-while privatized, the app is still downloading the LATEST cache available i havent booted up freeshop in a few months and it grabed cache r32
The cache is hosted in a different repo from FreeShop itself, which hasn't been pulled.

Well, fuck... freeshop was about the only way I was able to discover new things to play. Since *that* ISO site is full of links that basically only upload at 2kb/second or are behind cancerous ad-walls, and CIAngel doesn't actually list anything *new*, and how neither has Project X Zone 2 available in any shape or form.

I'm upset about this because it helped me discover games I never would have known were available.

i dont think freeshop the application circumvents any protections, the downloads can be done using google chrome, where is googles DMCA notice nintendo?? just because your security is flawed and people found the flaws does not mean that every application is breaking the law.

techincally nintendo broke the law by providing its users with such poor security to begin with.

I hope people know that this isn't about the eshop's stupid logo but instead logo.bin (The 3ds animation between games)
The freeShop application also contains unauthorized copies of the Nintendo 3DS Logo Data file, covered by U.S. Copyright Reg. No. PA0001781880, which further infringes Nintendo's rights.

If you have a .cia of a homebrew app use the homebrew launcher channel's logo.bin.

http://www.nintendo.com/games/3ds/
This site has info on all 3ds games.
No, it doesn't. It doesn't list games with demo's available. It doesn't list VC games available to me *now*, unless I use the .jp version, which does fuck all for me.

Freeshop certainly wasn't a complete mirror of the eshop either (again, neither shop alternative even attempts to have Project X Zone 2, as a prime example), but it was considerably better laid out and filter-able to find what I would want.

It also doesn't change that without such alternatives, many of the games I would then install, I'd have never given a chance otherwise. Or rather, I wouldn't have tried them out because Nintendo couldn't be arsed to have a demo, and no no actual sales.

Again, freeShop decrypts the content, thus making it illegal.
Nintendo themselves literally explain the whole thing in the DMCA notice, they're not idiots...

Yea, but nobody can be blamed for thinking Nintendo legal is full of the kind of people that try to self-diagnose with autism as if it was some kind of excuse for being a terrible carbon-based lifeform.

Anyone who whines about this like the other DMCA takedowns is an idiot tbh
Nintendo is protecting their own copyright, you wouldn't like it if people stole games you made either

I'm cool with piracy, do what you want with your console and all, but don't fucking complain when the company starts trying to reclaim their copyright :rofl2:

Or as Nintendo themselves say:
Stop whining because you broke the law and someobody took action.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
