Hello , recently I bought a 1920x1080 144Hz monitor and I have the doubt if I will have to change the PC or if overclocking or with a new graphic would suffice. In games like rainbow six, if I get to get up between 100 and 160 fps by activating the rescaled resolution, in overwatch I was surprised since it is perfect for the native resolution, but with pubg and apex I have to lower the resolution to 720p. Well that my target would be to reach the native resolution and the fps, then this is my hardware:
Thermaltake Water 3.0 Performer
Approx Fuente Alimentación 500W OEM
G.Skill Ripjaws X DDR3 1333 PC3-10666 16GB 2x8GB CL9
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 960 OC 2GB GDDR5
Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5Ghz Box
MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition
Samsung 850 Evo SSD Series 250GB SATA3

A cheap graphic card will be enough like Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 580 8GB GDDR5 ?

For 144Hz @ 1080p High settings, No, 580 is not recommended. You need at least RTX 2070. The older GTX 1080 can also do fine.

Just lock your screen's refresh rate at 60Hz (Or a little bit more to not notice tearing) until you buy a new GPU. You can do that from Windows settings.

I have an RX 580 8GB, it barely gets 60 FPS on 1080p ULTRA.

i have a 1080 ti and i still find a lot of games struggling to reach that 144fps mark, so cheaping out on a gpu is not a good idea

also 1333mhz ram? that's an oof from me

You might be able to reach 144FPS with RX 580, but not at 1080p. GPUs might get cheaper a few months from now, when the RTX technology arrives and people start throwing their old expensive GPUs at eBay for low prices. So the 1080Ti might get a lot cheaper next year.

Well if you play eSports games such as CSGO, the RX 580 can easily achieve 200+ FPS at 1080p Ultra.
