Hacking Gamecube-Classic Controller problem

A few months back, I bought a Gamecube-Classic Controller (A classic controller that plugs in to the gamecube port, which looks like http://i.imgur.com/ldFCfDj.jpg) But about a month ago, it just suddenly stopped working on my Wii, even the gamecube adapter on Wii U. I didn't do anything to the Wii, by the way, except add a few games to my USB drive. I've been trying to figure this out for a month, so any suggestions will do.
