Hi, I have original(or genuine copy) R4 for DS lite and a R4i (AKAIO 1.8.1 R4ultra.com) for DSi.
I'd like to get some recommendation for RTS function only. I don't think I need DStwo since I don't use any of those extra functions.

Based on some research here I have following options:

1. R4i RTS - Pro: price, solid RTS function con: discontinued.. hard to find
2. M3Zero - Pro: RTS con: battery life. unstable RTS. rom support sux.
3. EZ-Flash Vi - Pro: Build quality Con: unstable RTS for 3D games.
4. DSone: Pro: stable RTS Con: new rom support(old firmware). Slow menu

Please, tell me which one you recommend for RTS function. All I want is just RTS with newer rom support if possible.

Thanks in advance

PS: .. or should I wait for Cyclo DSi ? It sounds perfect solution for me.

Check out my chart comparing the features/gimmicks of carts, it doesn't have some of the ones you've listed, but still.

5cjex.jpg

Yes
Partially
No
  • DS (Lite)
The cart will work on a DS 'Phat' or Lite
  • DSi (XL)
The cart will work on a DSi or DSi XL
  • Updates
The cart receives frequent game updates
  • RealTime Functions
The cart features real time functions such as real time menu, real time save, etc.
  • GBA/SNES Emulator
The cart can emulate GBA and SNES games directly from slot one
  • Movie Player
The cart can play a variety of different codecs without extra hardware or software
  • Anti-AP
The cart functions AAP/Clean mode which works in some way or another
  • Battery Life
The cart does not drain battery life of the DS

    1. Original R4
    Cost: $6
    Pros:
    • Cheap
    • Great for just playing games
    • Ultra-frequent updates
    Cons:
    • No SDHC support
    • No DSi support
    2. Acekard 2i
    Cost: $15
    Pros:
    • Relatively cheap
    • Regular AKAIO updates
    • Anti Anti Piracy for all new games
    • Great for just playing games
    Cons:
    • No Real Time Functions
    3. Supercard DSTWO
    Cost: $35
    Pros:
    • The ultimate card out there right now, with drag-and-drop video playing, eBook readers, GBA and SNES emulation, and advanced Real Time Functions
    Cons:
    • Onboard CPU is a battery drainer
    4. iSmart MM
    Cost: $32
    Pros:
    • The little stepbrother to the DSTWO, the iSMM features many of the same functions.
    Cons:
    • Cost isn't really justified seeing as it's not as good as the DSTWO
    5. M3i Zero
    Cost: $23
    Pros:
    • Beautiful Sakura firmware
    Cons:
    • Only updates every 3 months or so
    • Even when updated, not many games are fixed
    • Flimsy update cord
    • Cord is only way of updating

i am almost tempted to say that a SCDS2 is you only viable option here. If i was looking for that feature, i would want to get the DS2.

I own the M3Zero and the CycloDS too, and their RTS feature is not much different if it works in the game to be honest. Not all games support the features on the adapters.

From the ROM compatability, the SCDS2 beats both of these, based on my experience with these cards. If you can get one, i would go for it. It's a solid flashcard, and it has the bonus of Slot-1 GBA games, which is worth the extra bucks imho.

The M3Zero would be your budget option here, with some 24$ or so. The RTS save works on compatible games.

The RTS feature and ingame menu depends on how your card is patching the rom. Some games need special settings to run, which don't allow for RTS. Here, the SCDS2 seems to be the winner, as 99% of games need fuck all patching.

i hope i could shed some light on your situation.

M3i Zero is total shit, it fails basic important things like running games or installing firmware.
Did you get a broken flashing cable? You're shit out of luck, no other options to reflash the system.

Anyway, the absolute best flashcart with RTS is definitely the DStwo.
It supports 4 save-slots, which also give the option to add labels.
Loading and saving real time is very fast, and usually very compatible, less likely to crash than other flashcarts.
And you don't have to plan the feature in advance, no having to create the real-time save file like on CycloDS, you can just load the real-time menu at any point and enjoy saving.

Want RTS and more cool features? Get DSTWO
Want RTS and won't use any extra cool features? Get DSonei mini
Want crappy card that won't play newer games and that the RTS doesn't work well? Get M3iZero or R4i RTS
I think this closes the discussion.

I think This is the ultimate summary out of all of your important opinions.
also, I learned 1 important lesson: do not buy M3iZero

I read that DSonei RTS function is similar to Ez-Flash Vi but supercard rom/firmware support is better..

Thanks everyone for your input! I think I will get DSonei or DStwo

My cousin got this and I can really say that M3i Zero is the worst piece of fuck ever produced.

Get DSTWO XD It's expensive but it's worth the money, RTS NEVER go wrong for me up till now. Never.

And yes, 4 slots of RTS is something and the possibility for it to crash is...well...0 maybe?

But you get my point.

DSOnei would be the best choice out of the ones you listed, if you have money I would recommend the DS2.

I found the RTS is pretty useful when I am playing DQV , you know there are many mini games that need extreme luck to get enough money to buy good weapons .

It would take me days to finish it without the RTS .

BTW , I am using DSTwo . Everything works like a charm.
