Normally Piers Anthony updates his newsletter every single month. It's like an extended version of his famously long and detailed Author's Notes at the end of many of his novels, which really just turn out to be superlong journal entries for his fans.

He has not updated anything since the fourth of March this year, as shown on his page http://hipiers.com/newsletter.html

I keep checking obituaries and local news in his area. He's over 80; not exactly a spring chicken.

Has anyone heard anything about him lately? I don't want to lose one of my favorite authors from childhood.

No, just that he was struggling to find time to write, time to spend with his wife, time to spend watching movies and reading. He said something about something had to give, so I imagine the newsletter got cut.

    There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.

    But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".

    Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.
