I really need some help. I have my wii softmodded with the homebew channel. I followed all the steps twice by HighTeckMan but I have some trouble loading the first game i tried, ssbb(super smash bros brawl). I really want to play this game, but it doesn't work. What happens is:

I load the game with usb loader gx
It asks me: Create a new ave file for Super Smash Bros. Brawl? Yes/No
Then: If you choose to continue, wou will not be able to same. You will also not be able to access the Nintendo WFC menu. Continue without saving/Return to the wii menu

After this, it sends me back to the wii menu.
I use WFBS manager 3.0 to put the iso i downloaded from wiiiso.com, but it just doesn't work.

Please reply and help out, I really need you guys.

Post a syscheck and re-rip the game from your original disc with CleanRip. I also wouldn't recommend using WBFS or WBFS Manager. FAT32 and Wii Backup Manager are far more stable.

did you see sd:\apps\syscheck something\boot.dol; icon.png; meta.xml,? that is all that is required to run any apps
or did you set your HBC to look for apps in USB?

If other games work then it is clearly either you ssbb is a bad rip or your setting for it is wrong like you turned on EmuNand save by default and ssbb is not compatible with it?

I think WBFS manager didn't write the full game.
is it compatible with dual layers DVD games?

like greywolf said, don't use wbfs manager, and don't use wbfs partition (2007 tutorial are very old, WBFS is not used anymore since 2009)

How big is your ISO? I suspect it's underdump (not complete). if it's 4.7GB then the game is not full.
how did you split the file? Wii backup manager, or another program?
how many files do you have, and which filename did you use for each file's part?
which path did you copy the files to?

Usually, the split size is located at 4.0GB, not 2.0GB.
But 2GB should work too, you will only have more files than necessary.

Also I hope you didn't just cut the ISO in half, that's not how it works.
you need to use Wii Backup Manager to convert the ISO to the proper path/folder/filename/format used by Wii USBLoaders.

it will shrink the ISO by deleting dummy random data and keeping only the game's file.
For example, New super mario Wii will go from 4.7GB ISO to 400MB.
then the program will convert the ISO to a wbfs file, and copy (splitting the file at 4.0GB if game's data is bigger) the wbfs to the HDD.

What you need :
usb:/wbfs/Super Smash Bros. Brawl [RSBP01]/RSBP01.wbfs <-- this one 4GB
usb:/wbfs/Super Smash Bros. Brawl [RSBP01]/RSBP01.wbf0 <-- this one the remaining size of the game, should be around 1 or 2 GB. I don't remember the size of SSBB.

My iso is around 7,4 GB, i tried different iso's so i think that isn't the problem. I used Wii Backup Manager to convert the ISO.What it looks like:

usb(F:)/wbfs/Super Smash Bros. Brawl [RSBE01]/RSBP01.wbfs (2GB)
usb(F:):/wbfs/Super Smash Bros. Brawl [RSBE01]/RSBP01.wbf1 (2GB)
usb(F:)/wbfs/Super Smash Bros. Brawl [RSBP01]/RSBP01.wbf2 (2GB)
usb(F:)/wbfs/Super Smash Bros. Brawl [RSBP01]/RSBP01.wbf3 (1GB)

all seems good.
except that the filename is EUR (P) and the folder name is USA (E) (but I suspect it's a copy/paste error :P)
if you have european game, rename the folder ID to RSBP01
if you have ameracan game, rename the filename to RSBE01

if you used this format, the loader should see the game automatically.
do you have multiple partitions?
oh, I think this is your issue :
settings>hdd settings> click on the first option to force a partition refresh. maybe it's just that issue because it probably kept in memory that you used wbfs format, and now it's fat32 so it just need a refresh.
