Going to buy a PS2 network adapter this weekend. Any tips on how to check if I'm buying an original network adapter?

Don't have a PS2 yet.

It should be IDE and molex power. Rare to replicate that since it’s not convienient these days compared to sata.

Make sure Ethernet is real and not a dummy.

Finally bought the network adapter.
Thanks for the reply wolfmankurd and ScarletDreamz.

Any recommendations on how to clean the metal surface?

I'd just leave it tbh, but if you really want too then try and take it off and get some IPA wipes/solution and give it a wipe down.

Dissemble it then however you like. Brasso will clean it up but you will need to be careful with ruining that label.

If you're using the network adapter for running backups i'd just get a 3rd party sata adapter tbh, those are leagues better than using an IDE hdd with the official adapter. But on the topic of cleaning it, yea what was previously mentioned would do it.
