Gaming I need you! 360 mistook my TV for something else.

I choose OPTIMAL RESOLUTION I get a really nice picture, better then in 1080p mode. But I see two black stripes up and down, the letterbox. I believe its because 360 has set 1680x1050 as resolution, its 16:10 aspect ratio, but my TV is 16:9. Is there something I can do to have good looking picture without nasty letterbox?

Many HD TVs i have seen got different screen settings, you jsut gotta find the correct 1.
I dont own 1 but i know that there is a stretch image to fit setting.

There might be some wide, or zoom settings on your tv. It stretches it a bit, but you will keep the resolution. And why do you want to keep it, 1680x 1050 is worse than 1080p?

you're just doing it wrong. if you actually choose the resolution of your screen (sounds like it'll take a little googling on your part), and change the settings to widescreen (assuming it is widescreen), it should look fine.
