I have been learning game development in Unity and am wondering if there is a way to run a unity built switch application with a hack, or if I should stick with getting a dev kit.

Homebrew Question If I am able to build a switch game from unity can I test it via homebrew or any other hack.

Get devkit. Switch retail unit lacks sysmodules used for debugging apps using official SDK.
It's possible to build & run Unity games on a hacked Switch, but it's illegal and inconvenient, if devkit is an option then go with that.
