Hacking Installing HBC to Old 3DS v4.5.0-6E

Hi guys, I'm trying to install Homebrew Channel to a friend's Old 3DS. Thing is, this console was mostly used to play DS games via flashcard, so in order to not screw things up it was basically never updated. I thought it would be a good thing but now, following a tutorial, I got to get a file here https://smealum.github.io/3ds/#otherapp and I can only choose between v9 and v11 !

Is there a way to get this file for my v4 old 3DS please ? Or any other way to install HBC on it ?

Basically the homebrew launcher payloads aren't compatible with 4.5.0, so you'll need to install Boot9Strap and Luma3DS to access the New Homebrew Launcher via Rosalina. Meanwhile, with CFW it will also be safe to update, and all flashcards that have been blocked on the 3DS or DSi should work.

Seems like it works ! Thanks again. Now all I need to do is install cia games. Can I just install cia games by putting cia files on my SD card then installing them via FBI ? It's that simple ? Or are other steps required ?

its that simple in addition you can install freeshop now then google "3ds title keys" and scan the first results qr code and begin to pirate without the need for a pc or wearz-site

Thanks a lot ! It seemed so simple I thought there was a catch. I downloaded a cia rom and the readme file says "This CIA has not been Firmware Spoofed for use in CFW", so it got me a bit worried. I already made some research and since I updated to v11 while hacking the console it should not be a big deal I guess

its that simple in addition you can install freeshop now then google "3ds title keys" and scan the first results qr code and begin to pirate without the need for a pc or wearz-site

now that i think about it the scan qr code feature did not work for me i had to add the encrypted title keys via pc (drag and drop) using the instructions found in the old freeshop site

exactly firmware spoofing was only important when cfw was unable to boot on a n3ds over 9.5(i think it was 9.5) some people simply downloaded spoofed cia files others went as far as to frainkinfirm the system itself

Oh my, I installed Freeshop and it's so great ! It's even better than Wii U USB Helper. I hope the hacking on New 2DS won't be too much changed (I'm gonna get one), or that fixes will come soon after its release.

You should be good to go to hack the n2DS when you get it, you'll just need to buy a dsiware game to the o3DS and install dsiwarehax to it, later you system transfer to the n2DS and use the exploited DSi game to install B9S.

that will depend on the fw your 2ds comes in but you will likely be able to hack it without a hitch

The old one was on 4.5, which has completely different hacking methods than 9.0-11.3. That's also simple, but from what I've read, the new 2DS comes on 11.4 so until NTRBootHax comes out you'd be better off waiting. NTRBootHax will work on all firmwares.

No, not the same way, it's completely different. If you look at http://3ds.guide there are instructions for dsiwarehax on 11.4-11.5 consoles, that's what you'll have to follow, and you'll need to system transfer from the o3DS to do it like I said, so tell your friend not to link a NNID or to just make a temporary one because it will be stuck on your n2DS once you transfer.

From what the OP has said he's had it for a while. By now he's probably linked an NNID.

OKay thanks ! I'll keep that in mind. I think I'll just wait for the new 2DS section to open up on the 3dsguide website so I can just follow it.

The old 3DS isn't linked to a Nintendo account, my friend doesn't have one.
