Which of the two is better? I heard one has an issue with grounding the pads and I would like to know which of these two has the better build quality.

I think that would depend on your luck, not all hardware is made the same so you might end up with one that has worse quality than others.

The first model was the white one and the black model seems to be the newer chip. I am asking if the black chip fixed the grounding issue.
