So, I have an iPod touch 4g and want to convert an .avi file to .mp4 so I can play the video on the iPod. Is there any converter out there that lets me do this while also being able to add softsubs to the video?
From what I gather, the iPod uses the ttxt format instead of .srt for subtitles. I have yet to find a converter able to add softsubtitles onto an m4v video. Help?

I love HandBrake. I've had no problem using it to add SRT files as "soft" subtitles.

Unfortunately, H.264 conversions can be lengthy (especially on Windows) and CPU-intensive (like all other H.264 encoders), but the picture quality is excellent.

Ok, I tried out Handbrake with a test file and it worked perfectly! But then I tried to convert a full movie and it doesn't work. It says Encoding Starting at the bottom and then after about three seconds, it says Encoding Finished

. Obviously, there is no output file either.

Trying out iPodME now. Hope this one works.

EDIT: It worked!!
Just synced the mp4 video( which took an abnormally long time even though the file was just 500 mb.)
Got the option to enable sub to appear and they work perfectly. Thanks guys!
