Keep the 360. The first party titles for PS3 are great, but they get boring so fast. An XBox 360 and Halo, and you're in heaven... As long as you don't play all the time. I just don't think you should. I chose a PS3 and i'm happy with it, but honestly i am so damn tired of the lack of Splitscreen and Co-op. I think Online is good and all, but only if you have local friends to do it with.
Peh. That is true of ANY game. Hell, once I played a Halo 3 for 6 hours straight. Now, every time I hear "Halo 3" I feel sick.

Really, as a PS3 owner, I strongly believe that both consoles are equally great. There's no real advantage over the other, as they both have their drawbacks as well. If you're getting tired of your Xbox360, than go ahead and change it to a PS3 for the experience, and see how things turn out. If you're still happy with that box, keep it.

Fanboys from both sides can get the fuck out.

I own 2, 360 cause the first one was a piece of crap.
Now this new one its a 2009 model and its perfect.
I have a PS3 also, so I don't have to choose which is better cause I can get any games the other doesn't.
Simply I like the 360 more cause It plays backups.
But we can all agree that the gap is not as big as a Wii and a 360 or PS3.
BTW I'm playing my PS3 at the moment more even tho I can get any game on the 360.
Socom, and my fav Fat Princess is the bomb online.

To digress... Fix the first one you got with the towel trick + 8 pennies (2 per each chip in the chipset) then sell it.

There is no real diffrence between the two systems imo.

Also for the people who claim there isn't much choice on games, the ps3 has just as many good games as the 360.

The 360 online service is better than the ps3 but thats understandable considering it costs money.

There are currently 557 (exclusive: 159; non exclusive: 395; console exclusive: 9; trophy support: 224; no trophy support: 231; eventual trophy support: 2)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Xbox_360_games
This list does not include Xbox Live Arcade games, which are detailed in their own article. There are currently 698 (exclusive: 113; multiplatform: 510; console exclusive: 75)
your comparing console exclusives which I dont have any idea has to do with exclusives
it just means theres port of the game
and since MS's pretty much releases almost every 360 first party game for its OS, its going to have alot more

it has nothing to do with games that are exclusive to only the 360
please research before posting

Really, I think both of them are the same, and it depends on your situation. Both consoles have great exclusives, so you could choose based on which ones you like better. I chose the 360, and here are the reasons I did:

1) Almost all my friends have a 360 rather than a PS3. Most of the fun of having a system like this is to play online with your friends. If more of your friends have PS3, then choose that.

2) The Xbox is modded and updated all the time, while the PS3 hasn't seen much of anything. I've been using a flashed Xbox for about 6 months now, and I haven't seen a ban, either. As long as you check every game before you burn, you should be able to stay clear of bans. And if not, Arcades only cost about $200, which amounts to about 4 games. I'm sure you've gotten more games than that for free.

3) Xbox Live is just plain better than PSN. Sure, you have to pay $50, but for the premium service Xbox Live gives, it's worth it (though I do admit it could be lower).

4) I'll admit, I have gotten the RROD with my first 360. Once I picked up an Jasper, though, I haven't had any troubles with overheating at all. The air coming out of my console is cold. What I'm saying is that if you have either a Falcon or a Jasper and give your Xbox plenty of breathing room, RROD should be a non factor, so I don't think you should base your decision on that.

If you agree with all of my reasons, then I say stick with 360. But if you want a Blu-Ray player, a lot of your friends have a PS3, or you just love the PS3 exclusives (which I do admit I would love to play), then go with the PS3. In my opinion, you can't lose either way.

i own all consoles and one thing that i like about the ps3 is its rare exclusives (sure killzone 2 infamous msg4)but if we are going to talk about exclusives then the xbox 360 has my vote why? look at it this way when the ps3 and the 360 get the same game which one gets the dlc fist? shoot just look at fallout 3 one of the best games in ages and its better on the 360 for the dlc that wont come for months on the psn and one thing re5 doesnt frame skip on the 360

I hope microsoft decides to build a browser for the 360

I have both but I play more games on 360 because of piracy.

I liked most of the PS3 games I bought or got (to the point of spending 100+ hours per game just on single player on several games) regardless of whether they were multiplatform or exclusive.
(Played too many games for achievements to say the same for 360)

Exclusivity of a game doesn't make it any better than multiplatform games.

Asking people about which is better is useless because:
1) Too many people are not aware that they are committing a fallacy - "I don't know if a certain game on the other console is any good because I haven't played it myself. Therefore it must suck"
Of course not many people honestly say that and sneakily rephrase it to sound more credible.

2) Different people, different taste. Different consoles, different games.
I import a lot of PS3 games from Japan if the release date here is later by 2 months or more. I can't generalize my taste and say one of the PS3's pro is it's import friendly. You can clearly see that trend in GBATemp too. Not everybody plays "big" title's Japanese releases.

The same goes to controllers. A lot of people complain how PS controllers are unfit for shooters but personally I have no problem playing shooters, RPGs, fighting games, or whatever else with either controller. I don't feel that either is significantly more comfortable than the other playing a certain game or anything.
But the old 360 controllers' D-pads are crippled by design (Dead Rising was more frustrating than any other game I've played in the last 20 years because of it) and Katamari plays horribly with 360 controller (haven't played it with PS3 controller but I have with PS2 controller).
There were a couple multiplatform shooters that mapped the fire button to R2, those were fucking terrible. Thank god for R1 mapped shooters.

3) Difference in number of users = obvious results.
Go out the streets, ask people if they like the DS better or the PSP better (no explanations required). The outcome's gonna be proportional to the number of DS sold to the number of PSP sold.

The term "Console exclusive" used in those wiki pages is defined as "multi-platform games where the other platform is not a console (handheld, PC, PDA, etc)." So actually that's going to be a weakness of 360, it means you can play 75 games that look like 360 exclusives without buying a 360 (or any other console).

Listen to your p0ng, ps3 wins.

I can't help but add my two cents because at one point I owned both consoles, now I just have a ps3.

If you're comparing the cost, keep in mind that many of the things that come standard on the ps3 (harddrive, wireless, online play, rechargeable battery in controller, etc) cost extra on the xbox 360. I really don't like how microsoft prices their consoles like this.. remember paying an extra $30 for the 'DVD Kit' on the original xbox? It was perfectly able to play dvds out of the box, but they made you pay more money for the remote. Why not just let me use the controller?? Bad business in my opinion and I don't like supporting it.

Also, what 'premium service' does LIVE give in comparison to PSN? The only thing lacking on PSN that I recall is party chat, otherwise the service is exactly the same. Except PSN is much free-er.

I also hacked my Xbox 360, and found that I liked getting free games, but played them much less for some reason. I think the value of the game dropped if I just downloaded it, and I wasn't interested in finishing any games, just trying them all.

Honestly, this 'debate' comes down to 1) which exclusives you would prefer and 2) what your friends have if you want to play online with them. In both cases, ps3 wins hands down for me. Plus it's a blu ray player.

Xbox has a lot of other things as well. Firstly, party chat is the big one, and I can't even imagine being without it. Next, you also have more freedom with joining people's games without actually being invited as well. Plus the fact that we get DLC's for games sometimes months before the PS3 will see it. Not to mention the Netflix integration. Also, with the new dashboard update, you'll actually be able to watch a Netflix movie online with someone else. All this may not be worth the extra $50, but it definitely is a huge improvement over PS3's offering.

Agreed on both notions that Live Gold is not worth $50 a year, but is better than current PSN.

But given the amount of money MS already made from Live memberships, continue charging people for the services you listed is kind of a ripoff. I think it's about time they charge less or offer better services.

This thread has gone far since the last time i posted. Reading through the the pages, both consoles seem pretty much evenly matched.
Exactly.

It all comes down to personal preference, my friend.

Yeah, It's all about personal preference. But I'd prefer an Xbox360 over an PS3. Just because of the games and they sometimes have exclusive DLC's (Look at the lost and the Damned) Only gold membership costs far too much.

to fight the corner of the PS3 .....

NETFLIX is an extra subscription cost its not in with your live fees!

PSN in the USA also has DLC movies and TV series episodes (at a pay per item fee) this is also avail in a few other country's too
smile.gif

If you live in UK, Ireland, Australia, Italy, France, Spain and Germany you can download VIDZONE and use it for free streaming music videos with over 10,000 videos to choose from more added daily you can also use remote play with your PSP and access and use VIDZONE anywhere there is an internet connection (this means anywhere in the world!) you can also use the remote play to access any of your content such as music or movies you have stored on your PS3 hd
smile.gif

On PS3 you can also access most of the internet with the built in browser as well as watch JOOST TV or in the uk BBC IPLAYER as well as YOUTUBE and other streaming video sites too
smile.gif

We also have PS3 HOME a massive virtual enviroment where you can make your own avatar play games and puzzles visit dedicated game related areas such as BUZZ,KILLZONE II,GODFATHER II,REDBULL AIR RACE (fly redbull planes in contests) along with the EA SPORTS zone where you can do Golf range driving, Kart racing, multi player Poker tournaments... also in Home there is a Virtual Cinema complex where you can watch latest trailers for movies, Sony events and other stuff ...you can also go Bowling play pool, play arcade games and a load of other stuff like quizzes in the BUZZ quiz area and other puzzles in the Xi area (this also has some gaming areas within the Xi zone) all this played with your avatar
smile.gif

sure 360 has some great games but so too has PS3 such as Little Big Planet ... which now has over 1 million user created levels to explore as well as loads already in the game to begin with!

Killzone 2 being another hot title ..... MAG is comming soon with 256 players in teams of 8 this will no doubt be huge!

loads of popular 360 games are also on PS3 like Fallout 3 etc

We also have Gran Tourismo 5 comming soon another great PS3 title

Mentioned above DLC full games are available for a pay by item fee from the PSN store but also has loads of free demos to download and sometimes the odd exclusive free game (sprint recently gave away Kung Fu Rag Doll full game
smile.gif

They also offer some DLC for free for some games .... prices for DLC is about the same as it is on 360 for map packs etc for popular games such as COD etc .... remember here with PS3 your ONLY paying for DLC not the actual online play which is FREE!

YES the PS3 is expensive its a more POWERFUL machine than the 360! ..its got BLU-RAY remember that! BLU-RAY players are not cheap even as standalone players!

Want to add a new HD for PS3 just buy a compatible Western Digital Scorpio drive in whatever humongous gb size you want ..backup your PS3 hd contents and saves to a usb external hd or storage device take out the current hd and put in your new one format it in the settings and copy your contents back ...job done!

Want to add a Webcam ... just plug a usb one in most usb cams are compatible you don't need a special one with a chip in!

Wanna upload your photos ... again put em on USB and connect up to the ps3 and copy them over!

Wanna use MP3'S again copy them over via USB

You can also connect via wireless like you can with 360 to stream your media to the ps3 from your pc ...

Wanna use Divx/xvid then put it on usb device or disk cd or dvd and play it on PS3 or copy to hd and play from hd

Wanna watch MKV files ..use freeware tool MKV to VOB to convert files (takes just a couple of minutes) burn it to disk watch on PS3 no loss of quality!

It also plays MPEG and MP4 video files and if you have a Sony mobile phone you can plug it straight in via USB and copy content from your phone to your PS3 such as pictures and Music
smile.gif

blah blah waffle blah!

NO I'm not a PS3 Fanboy we also have the 360 and the Wii too I'm just pointing out some of the things the PS3 has from experience of using it
smile.gif

some people don't know that it can play a lot of stuff natively or the hidden stuff such as PS3 home (home enviroment is all free btw ..unless you want to buy virtual items such as clothes and items for your apartment/property in the environment)

True, Netflix streaming was cool, but I can just fire up my PC for that, I use the same TV for gaming and computing. That feature isn't worth $50/year. As for the freedom to join games, or whatever, I really don't understand how you think matchmaking is any different between the two systems. Unless you mean that icon that shows up and tells you what games your friends are playing....I guess that's cool...

DLC...the only reason XBOX gets it first is because Microsoft pays developers for exclusivity, then recuperates that money (plus heaps more) by charging their users for a service that could/should be free! I'd happily wait a few months (or more in the case of Fallout 3) and NOT SUPPORT BAD BUSINESS!

The freedom to load/stream media on the PS3 is far beyond XBOX's too. I love ripping my netflix movies then copying them over to the PS3, or loading MP3s and playing them during games (some games...). Can't beat some Marley during a drive through Paradise City.
