Gaming Is a jumper from fans to ODD harness for phat hitachi 0047 OEM or Gamestop addition?

I recently took apart an xbox I picked up for nothing to find some curious jumper from the fan plug to the ODD. Did the HItachi Phats come this way from factory or something not right?

Likely someone bent a pin or spliced the cable in order to hack it.

Edit: could be a bodge job to get the drive working again.
