I had tried modding my wii u a long time ago but had to stop somewhere around the middle of the process.

I cant exactly remember at what step i stopped so I just wanted to ask if its safe for me to essencially wipe my SD card and just follow the guide again from start to finish.

And if yes, is there maybe anything i need to do to make sure i dont brick my system?

Please send us a list of files on the SD card, we need to be sure that CBHC isn't installed/planned to be installed

Indeed, if you already have a legacy setup like the previously-mentioned CBHC, you'll need to uninstall it before your proceed.
Wii U Hacks Guide is probably all you need to begin with in order to softmod your console.

Additionally, for the game backups to work, you'll need the latest sigpatches. Download the 01_sigpatches.rpx file and paste it into /wiiu/environments/tiramisu/modules/setup and/or /wiiu/environments/aroma/modules/setup on your SD Card.

I'd say that you can probably format your SD card, but do check if you have DON'T TOUCH ME or Haxchi app on your Wii U Menu or under Data Management in Settings, just to be sure. Uninstalling Haxchi is optional, but recommended, while uninstalling CBHC is necessary for you to proceed with Aroma/Tiramisu setup.

You can copy the files from your SD card onto your PC before you format (just in case you need them later) and format your SD card afterwards and start from the beginning.
Under wiiu/environments, do you have tiramisu folder? If so, that confirms that you've tried setting up Tiramisu in the past.

i do indeed have the tiramisu folder in my environments.

basically, in apps i have homebrew launcher and ufdiine.
in enviroments i have installer and tiramisu.
in payloads i have default, fw_img_loader and nanddumper.

Yep, that's pretty much it. If there are no such apps on your system, you can format your SD card and start following that guide.

Good luck! Let us know how it went afterwards.
well, my system is not bricked. i think i was at like the last few steps since i was already booting into health and safety. eitherway its now completely set up with the update folder removed, HB app store installed and vWII also set up.

now to just look around what to do with it.

thanks for the help again.

Can you have both Tiramisu and Aroma together? Doesn't that take up a lot of space? Also what's the difference between them. Isn't Aroma supposed to be the new improved version of Tiramisu?

Yep. And swapping between them is easily down with envSwap.

Doesn't that take up a lot of space?
Nope, just a couple of MBs.

Both Aroma and Tiramisu share the basic feature set and are built on top of the same Mocha version. While Tiramisu includes Mocha, the autoboot module and a module for injecting the Homebrew Launcher into the Mii Maker, Aroma comes with its own module loader, which is much more powerful. One of the most important Aroma modules is the backend of the Wii U plugin system.

Aroma will eventually replace Tiramisu. Still, using Tiramisu is required only for Retroarch and some homebrew apps that haven't received an Aroma port yet.

You can find out more about Aroma in the Maschell's blogpost.

I've put down the money on the Odin 2 Mini since I just love that Vita form factor. Loved the power of the Odin 2 but the size always put me off, this one seems exactly what I've been wanting.

I don't care about the square screen it's just nice to hold something you don't have to stretch your arms a foots length

All these things expecting to be super huge is overrated just run a type c cable to your TV if you want a big display or in my case screen mirror it

My point is we already have enough shit with big displays having something pocketable with up to ps2 would be fine on the go
