Is there anyway to search topics with 4 letters?

Is there a wild character? I tried * but it didn't work. I find this happening to me often, and I would rather search for an answer instead of creating a new topic on an old question. 5 letters just seems high for a search. A current example is to search for, "save". I can find saved, saving and saves, but all the topics with just, "save" are left out.

I find this problem comes up a lot too. Most handheld hardware devices have names with under 5 letters (DS Lite, PSP, EZFA, M3, DS-X to name a few) so searches for any hardware-specific topics tend to fail. I understand that a limit is nessasary to reduce server load during searches, but is there a reason why the limit was raised from 3 to 5 letters?

I think thats why they separated the sub-categories. As far as the 3-5...I just dont use the search function XD

Well, I tried to search irc because I donn´t know if I´m coneccting properly since the channel I enter is always empty and I couldn´t. I look manually but the forum is too big and I still don´t find if there´s an explanation.
Anyway, eventually i wiil get it, but i want to say that 5 letters seems too much.

if youre looking for the gbatemp chan, try searching for #ndstemp or #gbatemp..or even #wiitemp >.>

Guess thats a perfect example, although with that search, almost all the threads are locked, but they should be of some help

Well, you don't have to edit the url specifically. Just put "site:gbatemp.net" in the google search box with your search terms.

* Would it be stupid to integrate google search into gbatemp? I can see why it would be a bad thing, but it would help with server load a bit... assuming that searching under four characters would increase server load. And there also is the possible issue with completeness of the database on google. Otherwise, there would be four letter searching. Anybody got ideas on this?

This would indeed be a good idea, Google is fast and doesn't use our own database every time someone does a search.
I'll look into it.
The only downside is that Google often leeches GBAtemp already, and this really does slow the server down.
