Gaming Is this game region free? (pic included)

will an original 2001 xbox "NTSC" game work on my japanese "NTSC-J" xbox360 console?

since it only says "NTSC" instead of "NTSC-U", does that mean the game is not region locked?

Depends on what game it is and if it's BC supported.
Some games are region locked.
Mostly JAP only.

Chances are high you can run it.

Edit: on a hacked 360, you can play it.

the game is shenmue 2.
i guess i will just have to get the more expensive JAP version just to be safe....oh well

Quick google search revealed that it's region locked.

yeah i saw a lot of those other threads where UK PAL console owners were asking if the american version of shenmue 2 will work on their console and were told that the game is region lock. even so, i was holding out hope that maybe there's a slim chance that somehow it would work on my ntscj xbox360.

i thought that maybe the backwards compatibility software in my xbox360 console would ignore region codes, or maybe the NTSC code in shenmue 2 only locks out PAL console and not NTSC-J consoles, i mean afterall it does says "NTSC" on the box instead of "NTSC-U" so maybe there's a chance it will work....or something like that....oh well.

NTSC is an output, it has to do with the mid 1900's televisions n what not.

NTSC the the main in the US and Asia, PAL is the main in Europe and Oceania.
