basically ouendan with new songs?

lame, developers should stop rehashing games

rofl2.gif

Damn Halo 2, Halo with new maps.
Damn GTA:SA, Vice City with a new city.
Damn New SMB, SMB with new levels.
Damn Gran Turismo 4, Gran Turismo with new courses.

yes curse all those games (i'm not kidding), ESPECIALLY NSMB, i'm heavily dissapointed

a sequel should give a significant change to the gameplay while maintain a familiar scene, Resident Evil 4 is a good example of this

changing level and weapon does not equal new game *cough halo cough*
changing songs does not equal new game, maybe they should call this ouendan 1.1

Rehashing? If they changed the gameplay it wouldn't be Ouendan. I love it just the way it is (if they include the intro skipping EBA introduced). All I want is more songs to play every once in a while. If they can release a new Ouendan and Beat Agents every few months it would make me soooo happy.

no wonder EA succeeds, because of people like you

buying the same thing over and over again
What...the...fuck...

Your insane logic astounds me.

If you LOVED a game, would you want to sequal to be entirely different? I suspect not. You would want more of the same, extremely entertaining experience you had with the first one.
Now, if everyone used your "logic", would that ever happen? No.
Great series' would die off pretty fast, and startup companies wouldn't last long. Heck, I bet Nintendo would not still exist if they did not ride on the power of their series' with the "rehashed" gameplay in the sequels.
That wouldn't be good, now would it?

what's the point playing the same game over and over again? what's the point of buying the same game with different level? that's stupid, that's why series go stale, instead of reinventing themself, they offer more or less the same thing. when i buy a NEW game, i expect NEW experience, if they want to create a new level/weapons/songs/whatever, go give an expansion

why resident evil 4 stand out from all sequels? why metroid prime (first one) gain so much praise? because instead of making the same game with different tone, they reinvent themselves. Nintendo is one of the company that have the guts to reinvent their franchises, MOST (not all) of their major franchise gain siginificant gameplay change for each iteration, although lately they have been dissapointing

if all people like you, developers will just release the same game every year with different level, love it right? what happen to creativity? what happen to originalty? what happen to the rush you feel when you're playing a NEW game? gone
Now I completely agree with you that there have to be new experiences, but not all systems support expansion packs, so they simply release the same game (with new levels) under a different name, however the lack of the expansion also allows them to update their engine - take Ouendan and EBA for example. EBA had better/smoother graphics and that awesome skip button. Now if EBA was just an expansion, then none of those updates would have been possible.

And besides, you'd still have to pay for the expansion.

But, we're pirating games anyway, so what do we care, right

I think you seriously need the common sense training game because obviously you have none.

You are trying to compare Ouendan (a game that is WAY MORE ORIGINAL than anything EA has EVEN TOUCHED and is just getting its first sequal) to all of the shit EA puts out in stores...Madden 2004 2005 2006 2007 hell I could go on forever... I am sorry man but according to your thinking Twilight Princess should have not been released because it uses the same formula of many previous Zelda games with new items and better graphics.

I'm surprised the demo isn't floating around the internet.

Someone better go to Japan and capture that thang!

EDIT:

Demo capturing isn't really done anymore, it seems.

I'd love to see all those awesome indie games they release at the Japanese download stations etc. but there isn't anyone who is willing to do it. Come on, scene! Do a race for Wifi demos!

About the new games / sequels debate: There has to be a healthy balance. I agree that pumping out sequel after sequel is bad. But if a game is fun, a sequel with the same kind of fun is justified as long as there is new content to play. Look at all the Street Fighter 2 games there are, that's wrong. Look at the sports games that cost 50 bucks every year even though almost nothing changes, that's wrong. But with a game like Ouendan I think it's ok if they release another one with new content. Ideally they would do it as an expansion pack but the industry hasn't really found a good way for that, yet. I think it will become more common with the increased usage of the internet. Episodes are a good solution: Many sequels, all relatively small and cheap. Play the first one of everything to try new concepts and get fresh experiences. If you like it, you can continue with following episodes. A problem with the DS and it's cartridges is that you can't make games cheap easily. A problem with Ouendan is that it didn't sell that well so they have to make as much money on the sequel as they can.
Look at what Rockstar do, that's a good way. They've released new content with gameplay tweaks as small sequels but now they are refreshing it from the ground up for a really new game. You can choose to get every game if you love the series or check out every numbered part if you need more freshness.
If you are really hungry for new game concepts, put your money where your mouth is and go to http://www.tigsource.com/ , http://gametunnel.com/ and Steam.

stop_loading, we share the same ideia BUT ouendan IS a innovative, its like DDR portable, you cant re-invent DDR, therefor you cant revent Ouendan.

But each different Ouendan is a brand new one, i might be an expert in Halo, in Halo 2 i'll be a expert as well... but in Ouendan thats a different story, each game is completely different in both song, rhythm and story! I'll never be an expert in the new ouendan unless i play a LOT... rehashes arent like that..

But thats my opinion anyway.

Saying to change the gameplay is like saying to change the gameplay in DDR, you just can't do it without making a whole new game.

Well that's true for most games. But if you think about it how the GTA series evolved from the old 2D top-down car-stealing game to its current fully 3D view. I think of it as a new game, with the same name. It's like saying that all racing games are the same because you don't add anything to 'em. They're all pretty much the same, just one is better than the other in some aspect.

So to actually relate to your post - do you think of the first GTA is the same gameplay as Vice City or San Andreas with improvements, or is it a new game?
