In my particular case, my laptop's ODD SATA controller was SATA I, while the HDD controller was a SATA II, and nowhere in the BIOS were any RAID options. Even if there were, two RAIDed SATA I speed SSDs wouldn't get you anywhere too quickly with that much of a bottleneck. Barely any faster than a 7200RPM mechanical HDD.

It's an old '07 lappy.
It isn't the fastest at all.
I already settled on JBOD so eh, I'm not to bothered by it.
Atleast it'll be used now.

Anyway, installing the thing as we speak.

To anyone that is still interested.

I've been using it for quite a while and never even once have I regretted doing it.
It is amazing how much extra storage space you can put into it without carrying USB harddrives.

I deffo recommend it to anyone who's not using their laptops optical drive or to those who got broken optical drives.

You ever have to toggle that switch near the top of the caddy I was talking about?

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite
    for people with beefy hands.
