Notes:
The first 5 planets (excluding earth) have been known since antiquity and follow an elemental naming pattern. Earth follows a separate convention (being considered a separate entity in ancient time).
The final 3 planets were discovered much later; Uranus (1781), Neptune (1846) and Pluto (1930) and as such follow a wholly separate naming convention. Their names are derived from the western versions of their names. Uranus the Greek God of the sky thus becomes 天王星 or sky king planet, and so on.
