I'm going to list a bunch of games cib with manuals that came in a jewel case with red nintendo 64 letters, I talked to the store I bought them from and someone replied

"I believe these cases are from Nintendo and not 3rd party cases. The N64 had a lot of tie in items and these cases were just one of many, I hope this info helps."

I don't know what he means by tie in, also I see the same box on ebay somebody apparently thinks they are valuable

I just want to make sure they're oem from nintendo before I go around listing that, if anyone has any info it would be appreciated.

I have never heard of nor seen such things before but I was not paying much attention to North America during the N64 days. I have not really seen them discussed around here with those collecting N64 games in the time since either but that could just mean they are that rare. I can see such things existing as Nintendo then decided to smoke all the crack and go in for cardboard boxes despite their very obvious failings (we will skip the lack of spine labels as well)

Tie ins refers to things today that usually get bundled with collector editions and whatever else (little statues, playing cards, trinkets...). It does go back quite far with quite a few such things being with the N64, to say nothing of the Nintendo shop and Club Nintendo precursors.

Ebay prices are dubious things at the best of times, especially active auctions/buy it now prices. Completed/sold tends to be a better bet.

To me it sounds like rental cases.

I have a couple of rental SNES games that came in purple VHS cases, with not as fleshed out manuals (black and white, glued to the case)... Have a look for N64 rental cases and see if you can find some info on that!

I thought I googled rental cases but I checked again after your post and there they are, blockbuster cases.

people trying to sell the cases alone, but I don't think anyones buying, at least I have the cases and games and manuals, but the guy who sold them to me should have known/disclosed they were blockbuster cases.

then there's this guy lol

Not a bad way to preserve your N64 collection, as long as your collection isn't hundreds of games (that would get expensive, and take up a lot of space...)
I'm sure someone's buying them for their existing collection.

yeah they're not bad, have nice slot for the game and manual, and authentic 90s nostalgia with the blockbuster connection if you're into that.
