ROM Hack NAND 7-zipped size 327mb! - Is that correct?

Hello,

I just made a NAND Backup of my never used NS. The full size is 29.1GB but after I 7-zipped (in the fast config) I got a 327Mb 7z file! Is that correct or do I need to do the NAND backup again?

Well, firmware update is about that size.

It took me an hour too and I got a 29GB file, but I'm talking about the compressed size using 7-zip.

Most of the nand is just 0'd out. The rawnand is the entire nand dumped. Since you have 0 games on it, Yes this is normal when it gets zipped. Unzipping will give you the entire nand back again. @suzsuzuki

My other switchs nand is 1.2 gbs when compressed, but that is because of the games and saves on the internal. So yes its ok

It's not unlikely to be correct. My new switch's emmc backup was around 365MB in gziped size.

Did you backup at the very beginning, no config, no wireless, no game inserted? As soon as you put data into the filesystems, even when the data is deleted afterwards, the "0"'s are gone and a copy of the whole partition will result in bigger compressed images.

Nah probably not. This switch connected to the internet once and I switched the white background to the black. but all wellll

Try compressing with 7-zip instead. Zip itself is quite old and not as efficient as 7zip.

My 4.1 clean backup (7-zip) was definitely below 400mb.

Mine is 493MB compressed into 7z format (3.0.1 stock)
