nds-bootstrap loader: Run commercial NDS backups from an SD Card

nds-bootstrap:

Thanks to the work of ahezard, Gericom, Apache, Robz8, _catcatcat, and shutterbug2000 and other contributors, we can now load NDS games from the SD card, without any flashcard/SLOT-1 card.

Don't expect high compatibility, but do expect many, many updates.

Well, so I decided to edit the Pokemon Black ROM I'm using like I did for Platinum to make it so all Pokemon are obtainable in the game, plus making an endgame area full of level 100 Blisseys/Audinos to make endgame grinding a lot easier (replaced all dark grass encounters in Giant Chasm with them), but the program I'm using trims the ROM automatically. Platinum had gone from 128MBs to 101MBs, so I expected somewhere around the same trim, but Black goes from 256MBs all the way down to 191MBs, why is there SO much padding in it? That's basically 65MBs difference, too much for an NDS ROM compared to other trims that only are about 20-30MBs tops...

Also, do trimmed ROMs run any better? It seems to have very slightly load times and doesn't slow down as often when changing areas (then again, I'm in Nimbassa at this moment and that place is always slow AF even on real cartridges:P).

Because ROM cartridge sizes are done in powers of 2 due to how computers work. A size below 256mb is 128, which is too small for a 191 mb game. The powers of 2 goes like this: 1 2 4 8 16 32 64 128 256 512 1024, ect.

for some reason, Black Ops isn't showing the zombies mode in the singleplayer menu (its normally there from the start, no unlocks).
Otherwise, it runs ok with some crackling in the sound

I've been having trouble with random crashes in pokemon soul silver and black 2 running of an sd card. The game occasionally freezes as its transitioning the screen with the music still playing and I have to exit out to the 3ds menu to do anything. Is this normal or just me?

I believe soul silver was broken on the release before last but was fixed in the most recent release . On the most recent release I have not had any issues .

However I can't speak for black 2

It is cause it is not AP patched sadly you cant even use ladder in the first level.

I noticed in the compatibility list that Dragon Ball Kai Ultimate Butouden works now, but every time I try to run it from NDS Menu++, it stops at the Nintendo logo, I tried the unpatched and english patched versions and they both do the same thing.

The error shown is due to using sudokuhax.
Another question Robz8 , is it normal that cheat and pulgin patched roms boots but when starting a games it stay on white screen? I only tried my ssm64 roms patched with run mode and some cheat it worked before when i was using twloader just wondering if it is a normal compatibility issue ? Thanks.

okay, the untouched version of the game runs fine and I can play it, but the untouched version of the game is japanese only. How can I get the fan translated version to play?

Question: For now, there is any need to use the NDS Menu++? The look of Twloader (with the game boxes) is better for me, and I was running games like Dragon Quest 9, Legend of Kage 2 and Avalon Code on it.

It's compatibility issue. They'll work again in the next version of nds-bootstrap.
Question: For now, there is any need to use the NDS Menu++? The look of Twloader (with the game boxes) is better for me, and I was running games like Dragon Quest 9, Legend of Kage 2 and Avalon Code on it.
DSiMenu++ has a near identical recreation of the DSi Menu, has more features, such as setting a different language for your games, and it gets more updates.
Box art display is also planned for DSiMenu++.
