I don't know if I just broke my switch but it's not booting at all and the HWFLY isn't flashing any lights. I'd love some advice on what I can try to fix it.

I've got an OLED with an older HWFLY (can't remember the exact version but it was bought in Jan 2022). I avoid rebooting the console as much as I can because I'll often run into an error where the console doesn't boot unless if I open it up and reset the chip. I was trying to update the cfw today so I put the files on my SD card, turned off the console, and when I turned it on it didn't boot. The chip was just flashing purple, yellow/orange, and then it would stay at red. I tried bridging the two points on the chip with a screwdriver and it went purple to green but then stayed there for 15ish minutes without booting so I turned it off and tried it again. When I tried to restart this time I wasn't getting any lights and after multiple tries to turn it on I'm getting absolutely nothing from the console or chip.

I noticed that my screwdriver that was touching the reset points on the HWFLY was also making contact with the rear shield of the switch, could that be what had done it?

I disassembled the switch and examined the motherboard to see if I could find anything unusual but it all looks good. The battery should be fine as well, I want to say it has at least 60% of a charge. I tried plugging it into my dock for half an hour, and aside from the dock's light flashing green for a second nothing else happened.

Does anyone have some advice on what I can try?

It would be a good idea to disconnect the +3.3V line from the chip as well and see if anything changes. Don't forget to verify all the fuses too.

So I got it to boot again. The problem with it not powering at all was fixed simply by unplugging the battery and plugging it back in. Then I attempted to train it a few times but it was stuck on training even after giving it a few hours. I left it on to train last night, when I checked it this morning the battery had died so I plugged the switch in to charge and it started training as soon as I plugged it in. This time it worked and booted into Hekate.

This is almost definitely a temporary fix and I'm expecting to run into similar problems again, maybe I have a bad chip or something. I'm not skilled enough to solder a new chip myself and I'm to cheap pay for someone else to do it again. But for now, this will work

Check the readings on diode mode (red probe on ground) to see if they're ok.
I suspect a cold/bad/intermittent solder joint, most probable would be the DAT0 if you did not reflow/reball the eMMC.

@The Real Jdbye, I thought about that and I have blank DVD's and Blurays but honestly after like 90 songs I just listen to it a couple of hundred times toss it out and burn something else or have like 2-3 CD's. Florida here the heat in the car tends to ruin the CD's after like a few months even commercial pressed ones don't last too long.
