Release Date: Unknown, but alpha/beta testing apparently begins as soon as next year, for those who have pledged.

What is Star Citizen?
Star Citizen is a new, PC exclusive, space simulator built on the CryEngine 3, and aims to push the PC to its limits (Side note – It has Oculus Rift support.). Its development is being led by the same person responsible for the old games, Freelancer and the Wing Commander series, Chris Roberts.

What exactly is the gameplay like?
We don’t have solid details on all the mechanics yet, but it’s an open world space simulator which allows you to play the way you wish, you can join the military, become a bounty hunter etc. etc.
The world (Universe?) will be shaped by every action you take, such as discovering new jump points, winning key battles, etc.

Single player/Multi player?
The game can be played in both manners. If you wish you can go it alone with the SP campaign, or play multiplayer, it’s entirely up to you.

Online revenue model for multiplayer?
Similar to Guild Wars 2, you will pay for the game once(As in, both SP and MP included. Not separately.) and then play for free forever. There will also be in game items you can buy with money, either for customization or convenience.
However, there will be no items which offer players buying stuff an advantage over players who do not do so.
That is, there will be no “Pay 2 Win”.

Public/Private servers?
Similar to Freelancer, both public and private servers will be available.

Built on CryEngine 3? Designed to push systems to their limits? A Space Sim that does all of that? And an MMO that follows Guild Wars model (i.e. pay once, play forever)?

Yeah, I'm getting this one.

EDIT: And since the OP doesn't at all mention what the game is called... it's Star Citizen: Squadron 42. It's from the person who made Wing Commander.
