Hey together.
I modded an old Switch OLED with Samsung EMMC. Glitching works well and fast, but sometimes (about 1 out of 15) glitching fails and gives **= (No eMMC block 1 read (should not happen))
Has anyone of you had a similar or samne problem?

This setup workes fine for SkHynix and newer Samsung but on old ones sometimes fails.

Setup:
Picofly

0.1mm wire (RST, DAT0, CLK, CMD)
0.2mm wire (VCC)
v6 APU Flex-cable (CPU, GND)

Am I the only one with this problem? I was wondering because it happened on two similar devices…

I dont know why you think its because of soldering...all other switch-models work like a charm. I suspect the specific switch-model.

hey thank you. I will desolder the instinct-chip and resolder the picofly and give feedback.

ok, I tried, but now with 2.77 its another behaviour:
In case of failure the led indicator now shows long static blue, then long static white and then boots to ofw.

I think failure-rate decreased, but cant prove. :)

in case the firmware fails to boot, it rolls back to the previous firmware, long white looks like it.

weird. how about muuuch longer timeout for every glitch attempt?

(hard to tell the real reason without logical analyzer. it is probably easier to deal with this rare issue)

hey thank you for your support. same as before but its not a big problem for me, but i was wondering, because its the second switch where its happening. and both are ones with an old samsung-emmc. so i thought it could have a correlation.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
