PS1/2 PlayStation 2 Controller stopped working

I left 2 PS2 controllers on the floor for 1 year, untouched. One day I plug them in and the Circle and Triangle button no longer works on one controller. And the second one keeps scrolling down on the analog stick and buttons don't work anymore...

I guess they must have died, and they probably can't be fixed by yourself.

have you tried a known good working controller on the system?

anyone spill soda pop or a liquid on it? I'd say open it up and look at the contacts (of course unplug the controller from the system before attempting this). If you don't see something on the circuit board then probably worn contacts
