ROM Hack Pokemon HG SS freeze after naming

OK so i have a r4 with 1.18 and latest ysmenu and i have a problem with the new pokemon hg ss U rom. After looking for a solution and googling for a hell of a long time, i cant find the answer. so im asking you.

when i start it up and try to name my character, it shrinks the character and then freezes. i think this is a patch already out there but i cant seem to find it and i was hoping if you guys can direct me to a patch.

NOTE: THIS IS NOT THE RANDOM FREEZING PROBLEM THAT FREEZES AFTER X NUMBER OF EVENTS


So apparently i got it to work randomly. I was using the DeSmuME.0.9.4-win32 emulator to create a save file (EPPROM 512 kbit) renamed it to a sav file and managed to load the game on my ds with ys menu

Yes, stupid people exist.

I'm also using an original R4 with the latest YSMenu and my game hasn't froze once.

You have to use the patch with a CLEAN ROM...

ok so i used a clean rom (redownloaded and patched)
and i tried arm 7- patching
still nothing... music stops, game crashes

Check your calendar.

Get your Panasonic Formatter out. After that, place the latest files and a copy of the ROM (patched). Test it and see if it works.

too lazy to try a USA one

Uh, are you using the US Rudolph patch with the Japanese rom? They have different anti-piracy's, ergo, different patches.

Also, if you're too lazy to download a US rom (which is Googling, and clicking a few links) you shouldn't even be breathing, because that must be too hard.

A few of my friends are having this exact same problem. They are using clean US Roms patched with Rudolphs patch ( Obviously they are using the .nds and not the .bak ) and they are still having this same problem. Whenever they choose their names and proceed to get smaller, the two screens go black but the music still plays.

I suspect it is their cards, which are R4 clones from r4isdhc.com ( On further inspection of said site, under the contact us link, it looks like they are not the only ones having this same problem )

Just because this patch fixes the vast majority of peoples issues, does not mean to say it fixes everyones.

We know that. So does the TS. He has already stated in his first post that he tried using the U Rom.

That still does not explain why some people are still getting a crash/freeze after choosing their name. Although I still believe it has got to do with certain cards.
