No, but I hope the OP will somehow make it work...

EDIT: BTW, you say that everything went fine (except the unexcepted HBL at the end). what happens when you load the 3dsx of the mystery machine itself? it runs through a lot of white-on-black text and goes automatically to HBL, says something about success, or you just exit by L+R+B+Down? how much time it takes him to patch the rom?

EDIT2- for the OP @shinyquagsire23 -I use arm9loderhax CakesFW sysnand on my EUR N3DS(non-XL) which is on 10.7.

It went through the text and said success. If it does not do that for you, you have a to make a hans folder on the root of your sd card.

Just a heads up, the JP Volcanion event was pushed to GameFreak's servers, so they're on Mystery Machine under ID 0161.

Also, How are you supposed to exit mystery gift without the game crashing? Or is that just a HANS thing?

You should make a hans folder on root of the sd card. Then in mystery machine wait untill it makes a success message. Then when you want to exit the game after receiving the card just hold L+Up+R+B
