[PROBLEM] Error when opening Sonic Generations

Hi
I have a friend who just installed (pirately) Sonic Generations,
And when trying to run the game it gives an error says "No valid Graphics Configuration File found, please run the Configuration Tool and save."
We tried to change the settings in the config tool, didn't help
Any advise/solution?

Have you tried validating the game in steam?

run the config .exe where you setup the gfx and controller
