Hi,

I became curious whether if we open a GameCube Controller (GCC) and a Switch Pro Controller (SPC), could we swap boards?

My aim is to turn an original wired GameCube Controller into a wireless Switch Pro Controller because Wavebird Controllers are sold out in most cases, don't look any good tbh and need an extra receiver.
My idea is to put the board from the SPC into a GCC and just connect the buttons to it.

Here's a video of the inner life of a SPC:

Here's a video of a GCC teardown:

What do you guys think? The SPC board doesn't seem to fit into the GCC housing. Might it be possible to find any solution to that? Maybe with 3rd party SPCs? I don't care for NFC and gyro features, I just wanna play MK8D with a wireless GCC. :)

I know that GCC can be used on the Switch.

Btw, close enough:

Nothing is ever so simple.

Good luck, I will follow this thread for progress updates!
Haha. I posted this over 3 years ago and dropped it soon after. Meanwhile I have an 8bitdo wireless plug for GC controllers but am happy with the Switch Pro Controller as it is at the same time (although it still sucks that L2/R2 are digital).

@Xdqwerty there is health behaviour you can add to your character, then to use a health bar is lil more complicated, google n watch a few tutorial video on it, be too hard to explain here.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, the character has the health behavior
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
I know you have to create a health and health max variable. Then there is a calculation you use in code to subtract width size of the health bar. Google few vids.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, the "greenflatbar" is one of the preset health bars btw
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Yea you can use any bar/sprite. It will just change the width. Ok good luck and have fun. I'm off to go shoot some pool at the bar. Talk to you later.

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, why does the health behavior exist if you can just use a variable?
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
and nope the number still doesnt change
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
ok im gonna make my own asset
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
nvm i think i fixed it
