I received a PS3 from a friend that's not working. I guess the fat PS3 has YLOD? As the title states it turns on then off again showing a yellow light. My research thus far pretty much tells me that it's not worth trying to repair as they just die again pretty soon. I did come across this youtube video where the guy simply replaces the power ribbon cable to the switch:
I haven't opened my PS3 yet and have no idea what could be causing it, whether it due to overheating and the solder is stuffed etc, or simply the ribbon cable.
What do you guys think? Any experience with this? Worth trying a ribbon cable from Ebay?
