Hacking questions about black wii

so ive been reading around on in this subforum and i noticed some posts about the new dvd drives in the black wiis and how they cant play backups anymore? i came to the conclusion that it applied to all backups (basically, burned copy of disks), but then the bigger concern was the loss of GC backups? so im a bit confused: does this mean if i were to follow a softmod guide (like the one detailed at http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/), i still would not be able to play burned copies of, say Super Mario Galaxy?

if thats the case, then is there any way that i CAN play backup games? im wondering if usb loaders will work? does a usb loader simply consist of having all the games on a hard drive connected to the wii?

USB Loaders work. DVD-based backups don't. And since you can only load GCN games from a DVD then you can't use those.
