Hello.

I have an O3DS + Gateway that I didn't touched it for a long time.
Since Gateway is completely abandoned, I want to restore my 3DS to the "default everything" in the system so I can fresh install Luma3DS, but I don't have my original first NAND backup that I made when I installed Gateway for the first time.
Is there any safe way to restore my 3DS?

SysNAND ver.: 4.2.0-9U

PS: I'm not a native english speaker so I'm sorry for any misspelling or any misunderstanding.

You probably don't need to change anything before installing CFW. What you can do is launch DS mode (through a cartridge or through the DS Download Play app) which will remove the corrupted DS data that's used for the System Settings exploit.
First of all though, do you have any save data on the GW that you would like to migrate to CFW?
If yes then use this tool first: https://www.dropbox.com/s/zf4fkbe8fwen7ee/GWSE.rar?dl=0
If no then you can go ahead and follow http://3ds.hacks.guide and remember to "move emuNAND" when it asks you to.

Nope. I want a fresh install. I don't have anything worth migration.

If you don't care about keeping your friend list or friend code or anything you can just format the console and SD card before following that guide.
Edit: To format the SD card fully (and wipe emuNAND), if your card is 32GB or smaller use SDFormatter, FAT32, 32k cluster size, Format Size Adjustment ON. If your card is larger, use SDFormatter, ExFAT, Format Size Adjustment ON, then format it again with MiniTool Partition Wizard or guiformat as FAT32 32k clusters.

Alright.

Thanks for the answers guys! I'm just waiting for my new SD card to begin the process.
