I found it from a different source and backed for 2 of them. Came here to see if anyone already posted about it.
I'm excited for it, the standard n64 controller design is one of the worst by nintendo.

At least that one is designed for people with two hands, not three like the n64

I'm pretty sure those DS-like controllers already exist.
They do, but they are either ridiculously expensive, hard to get, have garbage joysticks, or some combination of all three. $20 for a brand new controller with a better layout and a (probably) higher quality joystick. I paid about $15 for a low-end third party new n64 controller, and that one literally would bend a little in my hand with just a little gripping force applied. So for $20 this pad is a steal compared to what currently exists.

Aww, c'mon -- it's not like N64 games made you swap between more than two of the grips (games wouldn't use L, R, and Z simultaneously). Nintendo most likely overestimated the impact 2D gaming would have that generation when they designed the controller. To be fair, they didn't exactly have a whole lot of precedent.

Anyways, for most games, pretending the left D-Pad grip doesn't exist is fine. :P

That is true, but still even if you only hold two at once you usually use the joystick with the buttons which puts your hands and your grip into an awkward angle and honestly gets a little cramped for people like me with massive hands

Can't argue with that. Also, I will add that stick was very poorly designed -- no one at Nintendo even thought to lubricate the bowl? That plastic-on-plastic was just asking for trouble...

I've fixed a few loose joysticks. You open them up and can literally pour out a pile of plastic dust from the bowl being shaved away. Just clean it up, add epoxy to refill the worn bowl then lubricate with white lithium grease. I also will add lubrication to any controllers I get that aren't broken to prevent them from breaking

I have one controller that's somehow like new, and I recently dumped some lithium grease in the stick myself to hopefully keep it that way. Still, I tend to avoid using it, in case it still isn't enough to compensate for the shitty design...
My childhood Pokémon controller is so bad at this point, the stick wiggles almost a whole centimeter from side-to-side... :wtf:

@Xdqwerty there is health behaviour you can add to your character, then to use a health bar is lil more complicated, google n watch a few tutorial video on it, be too hard to explain here.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, the character has the health behavior
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
I know you have to create a health and health max variable. Then there is a calculation you use in code to subtract width size of the health bar. Google few vids.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, the "greenflatbar" is one of the preset health bars btw
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Yea you can use any bar/sprite. It will just change the width. Ok good luck and have fun. I'm off to go shoot some pool at the bar. Talk to you later.

@BigOnYa, why does the health behavior exist if you can just use a variable?
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
