Gaming [rumor] Wii 2 - Blu-ray disks!!!

This isn't really news, but I just read it again on yet another site!!

'Over the past year, there have been numerous rumors of an upcoming Wii 2, one that includes full HD output.

Today, GGS is reporting that Nintendo is indeed creating a Wii 2, one that will feature a Blu-ray drive.

The console will support resolution up to 1080p, and current Wii owners will be able to trade in their console for a slight discount off the new console.

Adding a Blu-ray drive will help Nintendo curb a problem that has long plagued their consoles and handhelds, piracy.

GGS cites a "bashful but reliable source" in Nintendo who says the company is already beginning to manufacture the console, with a 2011 release date eyed.

Finally, the source says Nintendo will not confirm or announce the console until just one month before it's launched to "generate huge publicity and viral marketing." '

The PS3 is still unhacked as far as I know of. Also, yes, blu-ray discs will help curb piracy. When you have to buy a special burner and expensive discs just to pirate games, many won't bother now that they can't pop in a DVD that they got 100 for $20 and make a copy of their existing DVD burner.

Probably to cutdown the cost so that Wii can be the cheapest console.

I really hope that Nintendo releases an upscaler as an add-on to improve the graphic. I don't know why they haven't done that yet.

Why not? Both Xbox 360 and PS3 have upscaler inside of them. Not all of their games render 1080p natively so upscaler upscales them before TV.

It is much better to upscale before TV. I'm not talking about putting Blu-ray inside Wii.
